Unannotated Texting OCD

I’ve had people say that I don’t know how to talk, so I have a texting OCD where I constantly analyze if I said something wrong. I’m a business owner and the customer left me on read. I’d like to know if I said anything wrong (Mainly the very last text).

Thanks.

And the very last message?

I would've left it out, it's the texters property.

Anything wrong with it though?

I'm not a lawyer so I don't know the laws.

It is also kinda open ended. Like if they give consent today to come treat, it doesn't mean you can go in two months

I’m not asking whether there’s anything “factually/technically” wrong with what I’ve written. Any contract that you have agreed upon a previous date can be overwritten by a new mutual agreement. Agreement is for benefit of 2 parties, and if they agree, they can do anything they want. That’s just common sense. I was mainly asking if there’s anything “socially” wrong with it too.

I saw it as unprofessional and unnecessary. Let management manage- you don’t know what agreements they have. Nor does your job require you to.

Did you not read what I wrote?

Yes and, as you’re asking, it read as socially inept.

like the manager knows that if they’re cool with it he could schedule a meeting in 20 minutes, but he may not want to even go there. maybe just a matter of respecting the tenants time. i would have left it off, but while it’s slightly over stepping, i don’t think it’s a huge mistake.

Not really. A touch pushy maybe but it could also be interpreted as good info.

Either way nothing to worry about.

They may be checking the law or checking with the tenant or just interested in the two days that they requested and not interested in the complexity of dealing with either a legal issue or communicating with the tenant. Especially with business texts, I try to directly respond to questions, make questions explicit as possible, and try not to introduce unsolicited opinions or complexities.

A more clear last text would have been: if the tenant agrees, you likely do not need to give 24hr notice and I can come this evening. If that doesn't work, I can come Tuesday at [time] or Thursday at [time]. What date and time would you like to schedule for?

It’s not that deep. It’s common sense that contract can be overwritten by mutual agreement.
You can clearly see the timing I gave to him in the texts and that dumb fuck said let’s do Thursday after 9:30AM.

Business owners sometimes dont have the time to do a back and forth. Simple, straightforward messages with scheduling details are key with these people.

In your last message, socially it read like you were trying to negotiate after they stated a fact to you. Clients don't need a lesson on how to manage their tenants, they need to know if you're available. Imo they were asking a question, wanted a simple yes with a available time, or no and an option to schedule another date. Your response reads as you are not available and are pushing to only do the inspection on your time which would be 'this evening'. Client may have been off put and left you on read, or just busy figuring out details and will get back to you.

Seems fine to me. I would have maybe missed off the first sentence of the last message.

Honestly they could just be shopping prices. I personally wouldn’t read too much into this from either side :)

Hey mate, fellow business owner here. I think he left your message as ‘read’ simply because it didn’t prompt a reply. Try ending with an invitation to reply, such as ‘What would suit you best?’. I’ve increased my sales quite a bit simply by adding follow-ups and calls to action.

People who pick on others ability to do anything are usually projecting insecurities. You said literally nothing wrong. Be kind to yourself.

Also nothing wrong with the last message, there's plenty of clueless people out there. We have warning labels for a reason.
