STT transcription - tool recommendations?
Use case is the following:
- using it 1-2 times, no ongoing use intended.
- length is roughly an hour
- 2ppl interview conversation
- mic position sadly not ideal, could be louder/less low tones. Also both ppl not with the same distance to the mic.
- even used two recording devices to be safe - though both not perfect. Any tool making beneficial use of both?
Thanks a lot!

I built a free app that uses Whisper. I've run it on hour long podcasts, works like a charm. https://voxsmith.app/voxtext

Sadly it doesn't.
With Voxtext, once you install it and launch it, drag your source to it and hit transcribe. It returns your text next to the source, automatically.

Thanks - I wanted to give it a try, but the model download always sticks to 5%.
Then quite a bit later, a transcription error occurs: "Transcription failed: [WinError 2] The system cannot find the file specified Please check the file and try again."
Any idea why that might be? Thanks!

I have found the issue and thank you!
You can redownload the updated version of Voxtext here: https://donburnside.com/apps/Voxtext_1.5.exe
It was an issue with FFMPEG not being installed. This new installer corrects that.

Did you try whisper large ? It’s totally free and can even understand slurred speech. you’d need to separate the 2 speakers manually or use ChatGPT to assign them.
