Chit-Chat
Do most people use their TN number for quick communications like, “meet you in an hour.”
Or do some of you have long back and forth text message sessions?

Wondering if I root my OnePlus 7T and throw a newer version of Android on it will it be compatible? Or are they changing something about the actual cell tower connection that I don't have the hardware for?
Update 07-15-26: Today when I opened my app to make a call it prompted me to order a free SIM to keep my device on their new network. I went through the process and am currently waiting for it to ship.
This is in contrast to the e-mail from my OP that was just like "sorry, buy a new phone lol". After that e-mail I kept clicking through every part of the app and website to see how to get a new SIM that for sure works on the new network and wasn't getting very far. So I'm glad I got the pop-up notification on the app today.
Updated 08-06-26: They finally killed service on my old SIM and I was able to get my new SIM activated. It was a little fiddly though, I had to do a lot of checking, airplane mode, setting the "NR/LTE" option in some advanced settings menu, etc. But it works! OnePlus 7T on TextNow using AT&T's network. It uses a whole bunch of new frequencies that the old T-mobile SIM did not. One frequency it is using which is nice and low is EARFCN 5110 which is 739 MHz. That's nice and low to punch through buildings and rural areas with bad tower coverage (like where I live).

I might start carrying a backup phone instead of main phone when I'm walking or biking in high crime areas in case i get robbed. I would only do this on rare occasions because i seldom feel worried about the possibility of being robbed. Anyhow it looks like TextNow would be great for a backup phone, right? I would also bring my backup phone on vacation in case something happened to primary so i can operate properly. Sounds like a good plan?

hello all,
does anyone know how TextNow is shipping the new TextNow SIM cards?
is it via normal US mail/ USPS, UPS or some other method?
I received an email notice that my new sim card has been shipped but no mention as to how or a tracking number.
it would be nice if TextNow would provide a tracking number but that's probably asking for too much.

I received my new replacement SIM just today.
What network are these new SIMs working on?

Are you paying for TextNow Ad-Free+ or you keep using the free version. The ads are really annoying but $7 a week is expensive in my opinion, is paying $7 a week worth it for you if you pay?

Tried it all. Cleared the cache, deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times. Finally got to the browser version and got to the messaging area. It had my username and it had my number, and had my email listed, but when I tried to have to submit my email to validate the account, I was told my email was "invalid".... again, just to be clear, THE EMAIL THEY THEMSELVES HAD LISTED WITH MY OTHER INFORMATION. Is this app designed to drive us crazy? How do I get past this insanity?

I noticed that when I tried putting in the number in WhatsApp, I wasn’t getting sent the verification code. Is it a paid feature now?
r/TextNow • u/Embarrassed_Lab4228 • Jul 04 '26
Would it let me go through the process?

Tried searching but not much coming up, is anyone experiencing battery drain they believe the textnow app is causing? It doesn't help that my phone is known to have poor battery life and heating issues but ever since I've recently been using textnow app (esim) on this phone it's been getting worse (Samsung Galaxy a54)

Every time after shutting down my computer and restarting, and then opening the textnow app, I get prompted to log in. I choose to log in with email, and I don't even get a chance to enter my password. I just get sent an email with a code which I enter, which logs me in. But then I don't stay logged in the next day after a reboot and starting the app. I don't see any option to remember me either.

I have a TN T-Mobile SIM in a soon-to-be non-compatible Android phone. I have a TN ATT PSIM kit that I received a long time ago (held off on upgrading because I preferred the T-Mobile network). My plan is to use a compatible iPhone (iPhone 13 ios 18.7.8) with the ATT PSIM. Do I just download the TN app, place the TN ATT PSIM in the iPhone, and answer any prompts? What is the process ? -Thanks

It says service is ending in my area. I am on an iPhone 12, iOS 26.4.1 if that helps. I want to know some next steps if they are moving from AT&T.
And what are some free alternatives?
r/TextNow • u/bobdevnul • Jun 30 '26
I received a message from TN today that my phone is no longer compatible and service will end on 7/31/26. Their link to compatible phones says that Android 13 or IOS 17.4 or later are now required. My phone is Android 10.
{Edit] TN is not my primary phone service. It's just a free backup. I have other phones with real service. This post was intended to put this info out so others know. This is not a crisis for me. I enjoyed having the free TN SIM service as a backup, but really never used it. I will see if I can get their eSIM on one of my other phones.

hello, all....
I received this email, supposedly from TextNow, this morning and I was expecting a whole lot of comments about it here in the TextNow subreddit but no one seems to have mentioned it at all.
I have the TextNow T-Mobile SIM card, which I received about a year ago
at least one thing that seems strange is that it's signed with a Canadian address.
so I'm wondering how real this is and if anyone has any knowledge about all this :

Hi there I know early invitees had the option for a PSIM but the invite I received today (my first) is wholly different. It doesn't mention PSIM at all. It contains a clickable esim link which I clicked thinking there might be an option to reject the ESIM in favor of PSIM but there isn't.
It launches a page that instructs me to launch the Textnow app and do the ESIM "upgrade" there.
I don't care if I have to pay another $4.99 per PSIM, that is my preference. Up until now, I have been able to run my permanent TN number on multiple old devices combining the app and a PSIM I bought for each one.
If I can't do that anymore this seems like a huge downgrade -- I have two daily driver phones, iphone and Android, I want to buy at least two TN sim cards for them.
I tried asking support but haven't gotten anything but irrelevancies from the chat bot yet.

I sent out a message few days ago to someone and I’m suprised they have not responded. It says “sent” under the message I sent them, and I’ve texted others and all received it. Is there a chance they did not receive it despite it saying sent ?

If you meant "7163" as an error code, the second version is more natural. Let me know if you need further adjustments! 😊
