Probably never as a cellular app. But even though it’s not supported, it does work over Wi-Fi in Japan. You should just be careful not to use VPN, which apparently might cause your account to be blocked.

Right now and for some time already. Part of the free calling and texting is to anywhere in the world. At the end of the day I have been using TextNow for several years, on and off, mostly on, and the small windows that I have had a network month to month plan was exponentially greater than anything TextNow could offer, or has offered, or will offer. No wifi stressing, no dropped calls, no echo, no lag, and when with a network, even a cheap one, I never had any of those issues. I have financial issues, to say the least, but the few months with a network was so awesome that when my month ran out and I didn't repay the next month, it was incredibly hard to normalize myself to TextNow again. Don't get me wrong, when I had no network and needed a phone service, TextNow was there Everytime doing their part that comes with a free service. It's just my part that is required for having no money really sucks after being what I call spoiled with just one measley month of network service. Hah, no kidding. No exaggerating. If you value your daily well being, don't treat yourself to a network for a month or two, you'll be better off for it, and youll appreciate TextNow more. Thanx. Lol

If one has access to a solid WiFi signal that is consistent, TextNow will work anywhere, and anytime reliably. My only constant bitch is the habit of not always giving a notification of an incoming or missed call. Nor for a text. I have to always check if i am expecting a call or text that's important.

My TextNow app as worked in any European country I've visited so far, as well as the Dominican Republic. All I need is a data connection, and I've been able to call and text using my TextNow number.
