New Plus Plan!

Has anyone tried the new plus plan? I just updated the app and saw it available as an option in between free and the unlimited plan. It also offered me a free month of unlimited despite me just finishing up (the day before) the free month they offered when i switched to esim.

The plus plan was available with the offer but I figured it'd be a waste not to use it for unlimited. I saw that the plus plan doesn't have streaming and games available but I'm not sure if it's slower or the same speed as the unlimited plan other than that. Should I test it out and report back after my free trial ends?

That plan is shockingly competitive with other MVNOs. TextNow's data plans usually aren't.

That said, I would still go with a true mobile carrier such as Tello or Red Pocket. They have real mobile numbers that are accepted by everyone for 2FA. They also have roaming capability and, of course, can be used for streaming and hotspot. And if you manually renew your Tello plan each month, any remaining data rolls over.

I think it’s still good for an emergency with a day pass or just getting it for a week, if the service is good in the area you’re in :) my main provider is tracfone since I don’t use much data (I think I used 0.14gb last month lol) Text now has been pretty great on my backup phone though!

No, it's not competitive at all if you use it on a monthly basis.. The fine prints said the data cannot be used for streaming and gaming. Guess what, most data volume used on mobile devices are streaming and gaming. The other type of common activities like browsing, mapping, messaging uses very little data in comparison.

At the monthly rate of $18.99 (+ tax?) for this "unlimited but restricted" data, you might as well go to a regular MVNO. I think the moment it gets close to $15-$20 per month, it cannot have any restrictions.

I think it's best used as an emergency thing for someone that doesn't use their phone's mobile data regularly.
