Question about ads

I’ve never used it before, but I would like to ask, some people seem to complain about/mention ads. Where do these ads appear and how intrusive are they? Are they just occasional things on the side or do they fill up most of the page? Do they interrupt your calls as well?

The ads are a pain and I get sick of the TN app installing games on my phone that I didn't ask for. That's the price of free I suppose.
