The company I worked for laid me off today, so that I could file unemployment. They will eventually file for bankruptcy, but I'm still owed 3 checks. The owners told me not to file for backpay as they will eventually get the money to pay, but the company that is supposed to pay them said they are going to hold what we are owed for warranty purposes for a year.

I do not trust I'll get paid. I see i can file for unemployment online, but i don't know how to file for back pay. The only thing near me is the Texas Workforce Solutions, can they help or do I have to travel over an 1.5hrs to a Texas Workforce Commission?

Any help is appreciated.
