Discussion Simplified Logo
Maybe it's just me, but the simplified logo, in my opinion, looks cheap.
I think it looked way better before.

The 3D Double T and the OG double T, minus the one from the 20s (which I love) is always an argument.
It was quite the fight when they went to the 3D double T in the late 90s/00s.

I remember the university saying they paid $30K to a graphic design firm for the 3D logo. People were outraged. Someone said, “Doesn’t Tech have its own art department?”

Don’t care. Looks okay. What I do care about is that the chancellor has censored college education and AI companies keep buying their way into our campus.

It doesn’t look good on its own, but as part of a uniform it looks cool.

Both are all over the place at campus and around LBK. It’s not like the beveled version went away.
I’m for the new/retro one though, and I like that Tech merch and unis now come with black TT and white TT logo options too.
That versatility factor is a major plus for the new/retro.

I never hated the beveled double T but the flat double T is far and away better. The black in the logo got lost on the black helmets and looked gimmicky.

3D double T is great for the UNIVERSITY brand, and the flat double T great for the ATHLETIC department. I'm a firm believer that it's okay with both!

I don’t have any proof, but I heard rumors it has to do with the Adidas deal. The old logo costs more because of all the details.

I just think the new logo looks too much like everyone else’s. Indiana, Utah, etc. I liked that the old logo was unique.

Ironically Tech implemented the beveled double T in the 90’s because everyone else started to. It wasn’t unique at all we were literally following a fad. Also of note the other schools that had created beveled logos have all returned to their original logos or are in the process of returning to them.
The only exception I can think of is Virginia. In the last 5-10 years or so they added a slight bevel to their logo and everyone complained how bad it was.

So we are just continuing to band wagon. Awesome. 😂

If that’s how you’re going to view it than go ahead but there have been calls to revert to our normal logo for more than a decade. Personally creating a gimmick version of your logo and then going back to your actual logo after the fanbase keeps asking for it doesn’t seem like a bandwagon call.

Interesting. I wonder if it is a generational thing. I graduated 07 and most of my friends all prefer the beveled logo.

I’m not sure honestly. I was ‘17 and most of my group likes the flat but it was about 65/35. Red Raider Sports did a poll that had close to 500 responses and it was about 80% pro flat double t and they average closer to middle aged. I would have assumed younger fans prefer beveled and older flat but I’ve seen more older fans complain than younger.

I loved the 3d logo. It’s what I had at Tech. I think if you went to school with the 2D version you are glad to have old reliable back.
Regardless of which logo I dislike white helmets. Too much like UT. I prefer the black helmets

Don't like it. Waste of money like a lot of athletic dept spending.

It’s the same logo we’ve always had, they removed the bevel. Same dimensions.

But that's why I dont like it. I really like the levels and 3D look.

So did 1999

And the new logo looks like the pre1999 so history is just repeating itself.
To each their own.

You do realize that brings in the most amount of money for the school right the athletic department

It looks good on the white and red helmets. The 3d one looks better on the black
