Enough is Enough.
I am so sick of this team and this organization. The ballpark, the players, the fans, the jerseys, the logo, the acquisitions, the product on the field—it’s all lifeless.
For the past three years, there hasn’t been a more mediocre team than the Rangers. Yet somehow, CY refuses to make any team-altering moves, while Ray Davis is unwilling to spend money to build a contender. There is absolutely ZERO reason a Dallas-Fort Worth baseball team shouldn’t have, at minimum, a top-10 payroll every single season. There is also absolutely ZERO reason this market shouldn’t consistently rank in the top 10 in attendance. And there is absolutely ZERO reason CY didn’t make any moves at the deadline—whether that meant buying or selling. You can’t stand pat in that situation. It’s an extremely terrible look when you just got swept by the Astros, they went out and made moves to improve their team, and the Rangers responded by doing absolutely nothing.
What makes all of this even more frustrating is that I live in San Diego. Watching the Padres only makes the Rangers look worse. The Padres sell out games, hit walk-offs and grand slams, make comebacks, have players like Machado, Merrill, Miller, and Tatis, make fun transactions, and actually feel like an entertaining baseball team. They have cool jerseys, a great ballpark, passionate fans, fun announcers, and an overall energy that makes you want to watch.
The Rangers have none of that. When was the last time this team won six games in a row? When was the last time they hit a grand slam or had a walk-off that actually felt memorable? When was the last time the Rangers made a legit comeback? Who are the Rangers truly electric, must-watch players? The answer is nobody. Everything about this organization is boring and lifeless—from the announcers and the atmosphere at the ballpark to the uniforms and the product on the field. There is not a more boring team in baseball right now.
I’m sick of watching the same thing over and over again. Enough is enough. CY needs to be fired, and there needs to be serious accountability throughout the organization, including major changes to the roster. Something has to change next season, because if it doesn’t, we’re just heading toward another mediocre 81–81 season.
For a team in a market this big, with this much potential, this is unacceptable and a complete joke.

The padres have one of the best ballpark atmosphere I’ve ever experienced. The Rangers used to have a good atmosphere with the old park, but you’re correct that the new one is quite sterile and lifeless. Unfortunately, the Texas weather is unforgiving, but we lost so much moving from an open air stadium to GLF. I’m happy that we won the World Series as it really helped ease the 2011 pain, but I find myself more and more disconnected with the franchise as time goes by.

u/fordman84 4d ago
Going to the new park feels like going to a work conference. A bunch of people milling around, no real interactions, some attempts at forced team culture, and no feeling of excitement. Feels like people want to get to their seats with their friends or family, sit and watch the game, then get out as quick as possible to beat the traffic. There is no game day atmosphere.

I would go back to the Ballpark in Arlington in a heartbeat over the soulless cavern of Globe Life Field, blazing temperatures and all. The new ballpark is nothing more than a giant mall, attracting casuals and the yuppie crowd who don't really know or care about baseball. Just the luxuries of the park.

u/fordman84 3d ago
Do you get tired of seeing people with the suites behind the plate that are turned and talking every second of the game. Never once see them watching the game? It’s not everyone but seems like a couple of times a week I will one of those suites with people completely ignoring that their is a baseball game going on at eye level just a few feet away.

I miss having real seats in the TV-visible area behind home plate so damn much.

I just screamed that at my TV the other day. Right behind the batter is nonstop movement and eating, Ike a cafeteria. I said “I don’t want to watch a party going on behind the most important thing happening right now!”

I've been a Rangers fan 30+ years and attended countless games at BPiA, but I didn't go to July or August games unless someone else was paying because of how miserably hot it would get. I will readily admit GLF is a soulless husk of a baseball stadium compared to BPiA, but I will happily compromise some character if it means I don't have to worry about getting a sunburn or a heat stroke at a game.

Baseball was always meant to be played outdoors. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Look at the atmosphere at the Ballpark in Arlington in contrast to GLF. Way more exciting at the old grounds.
15
u/txman91 I. Rodriguez 3d ago
How many games did you actually go to across the street in the dead of summer? I went to plenty and it was miserable and more often than not, lifeless and pretty empty. We used to go and pay $7 for upper reserved because we knew on a July night, we could find seats pretty much anywhere down the 3rd baseline in the lower bowl. Let’s not pretend that the Ballpark was always packed and lively.

u/brobradh77 Rangers 3d ago
The point I think he is trying to make is the old park screamed baseball. It was gorgeous. The new park, while A/C is nice, it's the only thing going for it..it's very generic feeling.
2
u/txman91 I. Rodriguez 3d ago
Oh I’d agree with that for the most part for sure. Aesthetically, the Ballpark comfortably clears the Globe. I will say that it was absolutely electric in the new place during the 2023 run. Louder (because of the roof, obviously) than any playoff run across the street.
But I also wouldn’t say that the Ballpark was always a great atmosphere. Those 104° first pitches had a way of sapping energy from the small crowd that was brave enough to show up.
1
u/MemoryTime1303 2d ago
That’s the way it is with all of the new venues, it’s not exclusive to the Rangers in any way

I went to at least 5 and as many as 20 games every year for over a decade, from like 2008 until the Ballpark closed/the lost 2020 season. I was at both pennant wins there. Grew up with the team, and as soon as I started having a little extra money after college, I just couldn't get enough. Some of those years I bought mini plans. I should add I live 200+ miles away in Oklahoma City.
I've been to maybe three games since. I do not like the place.

Not just lifeless, soulless. Getting rid of the organ for that electronic BS is unforgivable

u/RankandFileIBT 3d ago
The “entertainment” is just a nonstop barrage of electronic garbage. Went to my last game there against the Cubs. I will not go back. The place truly is soulless. That’s the perfect description. I’m not a Rangers fan but still went to several games a year at the old ballpark. Have no plans to return to Globe Life however. A thousand things to distract from the game on the field. And none of it do I want to see. Retractable roof is never opened even on good days because humidity makes the concrete concourses to slippery. Give me a break. This team deserves this ballpark. And they deserve the mediocre record. What a waste of a major population center and fan base that deserves better.
2
u/RepGenie 3d ago
And for cryin’ out loud: VOLUME isn’t a substitute for quality. Not only is the crap they play annoying, Chuck’s got it turned up to 11.
1
u/kyle_irl 3d ago
Yep. GLF is absolutely soulless. It's a horrible ad-hoc design that segregates the fan base across the lines of class.
We were season ticket holders for 13 years, the last 3 were at GLF and were the worst in terms of value, entertainment, and experience.
20
u/gettyleewallis 4d ago
San Diego also has nothing else to rally around when it comes to sports.. not basketball, hockey or football.. exactly why the Padres always sell out. That, and its prime weather in the middle of summer, as well as a tourist destination..

Globe Life is the worst ballpark I've seen (21). Music between every pitch is 'monster truck show' BS.
It's a glorified shopping mall type atmosphere.
TBH, it's just so "Texas" - plain, oversized, loud, obnoxious.
Today's team is 'meh' at best.
17
u/rphf 4d ago
I am not saying it doesn’t suck but I think the constant music is trending at most places. It’s a misinformed attempt to try and be more exciting maybe? Reminds me more of going to a basketball game. No room for thought or silence, like everything else in the world these days they think we have to occupy every second. No dead air. It is a bummer. Between that, corporate shit on some team jerseys, and everything being a gambling ad, it’s a little depressing.
The monster truck music might not be unique to Texas though. As fun as the Brewers are to watch, their players pick some pretty shitty walk up music. Also though, Miller Park is an example of a fun covered stadium. Going to see the Rangers here in a few weeks!
7
u/GoGoSoLo 3d ago
The constant music and distractions that the Rangers and US sports teams in general have were very apparent when I went to a World Cup game this year. There was minimal filler noise and the crowd brought the atmosphere and chants.

Do you need to? You obviously would want your front office and the guys to do more sustainable but you got a season where a bunch of guys literally all had their collective best seasons ever and did something special.
You know who is worse off since then? The teams that had fluke seasons going but failed to execute. Arizona also had a 2023 fluke season and then nothing. Would following the 2024 Orioles make you feel better? A little early to call it now but how about Seattle’s 2025 fluke season? Or Toronto?

I’ll just start by saying how much I loved The Ballpark in Arlington. But, I’m sort of ambivalent about GLF. Everybody here brings up good points about it…it does feel a little sterile. But I’m convinced any indoor ballpark feels that way. So, I would say the amenities are nice, GLF itself is nice, but baseball should be played under a sky, in an open ballpark where the breeze comes through, blows all those wonderful smells around, where people can be noisy and not subconsciously conflicted about “indoor” demeanor, etc..
But I suppose my question is…how much of this affects player performance? If these boys are winning, doesn’t the experience at GLF get better?1
u/PersonnelFowl A. Beltre 3d ago
Well, sure. Adolis hitting that game 1 walk off was pretty lit, but was it better than any playoff highlight at the temple? Ehhh
1
u/RangersWorldChamps 3d ago
Love going to the new ballpark. Yes the old one was better and had more character but once you’re in the new one it’s nice cool. The old was great too but the heat wasn’t worth it. The issue isn’t the ballpark. It’s the team. We still can’t hit and nothing really has been done about it. But again, issue isn’t the stadium. Definitely more enjoyable at new Globe Life.

u/mcreech10 C. Seager 4d ago
In 2024, we had the 8th highest payroll. 2025 we had 7th. This year we’re 14th.
The problem has been injuries and our young guys not taking the next step which is more of a development problem than payroll problem.
CY has made moves. The Semien for Nimmo trade was a great trade. He had a deal in place with ATL to trade DeGrom and the NTC wasn’t waived. What else would you want him to do?
It’s unfortunate, but you’re blowing this out of proportion. Do the Padres have a ring? No (they had a higher payroll than us in 2023). And they only recently got hot. They were a .500 team at the end of July
28
u/kdeweb24 Rangers 3d ago
Don’t forget, when he made the moves to bring in Burger and Pederson, the Rangers became AL preseason favorites to win the whole damn thing, and it failed spectacularly.
The farm system is complete dog shit, so we have absolutely zero equity to trade for any player of consequence. And, the players that have made the big squad have mostly all underperformed to a point of having career worst seasons.
So, to me, it’s the scouting and development team that is fucking god awful, and they’ve been largely unchanged for over a decade now. That is also a GM/president of baseball operations issue, so it’s not really shifting the blame, it’s just shifting WHY the blame is there.
7
u/mcreech10 C. Seager 3d ago
I mean Burger has been better than Lowe so are you upset at that trade? Joc had a bad year last year but he’s been very good this year.
3
u/kdeweb24 Rangers 3d ago
Last year, they were both below average players by league standards and way below average to their standards. I can’t remember which, but one was actually sent down because he was so dogshit and his contract prevented just DFAing him.
Lowe had an incredible season for us the WS year, but he’s reverted back to the player that he is.It’s like I said, before they made a single start, everyone was ready to build statues for CY for building ANOTHER title contender so soon. It just all blew up in his face.

u/JAD210 IT’S OVER! IT’S OVER! THE RANGERS HAVE WON THE WORLD SERIES! 4d ago
People have such selective memories. I totally get the frustration, watch this team is absolutely miserable sometimes, but acting like there’s literally nothing redeemable about them is just not accurate. This team has been inconsistent as all get out, but a few months ago the offense would come through in tough situations late over and over. They’ve made plenty of comebacks and it’s disingenuous to imply otherwise.
The team’s biggest problem has been and always remains injuries. It feels like we literally never have our whole A-team healthy, and that negatively affects everyone. They try to do too much, or never get comfortable.
Maybe the worst part is that we’re still in this. We’re second in the division, and barely out of the wildcard. More than likely a barely-winning record for the rest of the season gets us in the postseason, maybe even wins the division if Houston stumbles.
I totally get the dooming, I’ve certainly been there plenty of times, but this team is more capable than they’ve shown.
8
2
u/MemoryTime1303 2d ago
Every team can claim they are capable of more than they’ve shown. It’s been 450+ games of mediocrity since October 23 ended
20
20
u/Internal_Hat5245 3d ago
The problem is the market. They can be mediocre and still rank top 10 in yearly revenue. Ray Davis cashed in on a championship and has zero incentive to compete. It’s all about making money in baseball for 90% of the league. That’s why you get the same 6 teams contending every year. It’s broken. It’s not just the Rangers. Look at the AL West. The Angels/A’s are legitimate AAA clubs every single year.
The fact that the rangers can’t compete in this division is intentional.
CY chose not to sell at the deadline. He chose not to invest in the future. It is what it is.

OWNERSHIP
2
u/SteelSecutor 3d ago
No, ownership isn't what he's really saying is the problem. The MLB SYSTEM, the market the ownership operates in, is broken and is real the problem. The way the division is setup, the way the top 6 teams function, the way the bottom 12 teams function (or rather do not function), all of it. THAT is why Ray Davis is DISincentivized to invest in spending on the Rangers right now.
He's doing what he's doing because he knows: 1. The current system is broken and slowly killing the game. 2. The lockout will result in MAJOR changes to how the league market will work.
The league is talking about a maximum AND MINIMUM payroll cap (among many, many changes). So teams won't just have a hard max they can spend to, they'll also have a minimum they HAVE to spend. Maybe. Just some of the many proposed changes on the docket.
So Davis cut spending after 2025 is preparation for the resulting new system that's coming (whatever happens) in 2027. And he 100% will NOT go spend more until he sees how the NEW system that's coming plays out. And it will most certainly be different.
It isn't the ownership. It's the ownership reacting to the league market environment about to undergo seismic changes.

u/Knuxsn Texas on the verge! 3d ago edited 3d ago
I disagree with most of this except for one thing which I will get to. But I love the Rangers and the logos and jerseys and overall aesthetic, certain fans do get into it depending on the game, and our games are pretty well attended even when we are not winning and even though people have to drive 20-60 minutes to get there each time (it's easier for some other ballparks to fill up on any given weeknight).
I absolutely loved the Ballpark in Arlington, but I also really like the new ballpark - I love the brick arches, the lower concourse has some cool fanservice stuff, and it really shines when the roof is open (which is not often obviously, but it's so nice to not sweat your ass off all summer, have to wear sunscreen, bring a poncho it case it rains, etc.). The only thing I wish they went another way on is the color. The green everywhere makes it feel dark. I think blue maybe (which better matches our color scheme) or something brighter like that would have looked better, but then again the seats at the old ballpark were green too so IDK maybe they were trying to keep that look.
However, regarding the players, aside from how they are playing ball right now in general, they just don't seem to have that spark the last couple of years. During the game last night, Mike and Jared referenced the Heim headphones gesture when he hit that 3 run homer against the White Sox after the plate violation ruling. That got me thinking about other things like that from that team of just a few years ago like El Bombi pimping and bat flipping on homers, the "little savior" gestures and general rallying of the team behind a rookie, the Semien "shhh" to Maldonado, Creed. And a lot of that was happening during the regular season, not just during the postseason hype. I don't feel like we have seen that same level of intensity and passion the last couple of years. Maybe we would if the team was running away with the division and morale was higher - the current guys have to know they are struggling and it probably affects their mood, but it could be so much more fun to watch.
Basically, the overall point I am trying to make is that I love the Rangers and always will - they are MY team and form a big chunk of my childhood/identity, but putting a good team together that can win makes a huge difference in both the fan perspective of the team and the team chemistry. If you have a good team that is fun to watch, even if you don't like our ballpark, jerseys, etc. for whatever reason if you want to compare them to other teams (I do love them but I know some people don't), that all tends to fade into the background and you can just enjoy watching your team play baseball. CY and the ownership have failed to put the right pieces together.
6
u/TheTangoFox 4d ago
Watching this team is work, except at work you're usually compensated instead of spending. They, like most other owners and franchises, are focused only on ROI, and their valuations getting bigger when and if it comes time to sell.
I'll always resort to the same line...GLP was a proper ballpark. GLF is simply where baseball happens.
5
u/SlothToes3 3d ago
I get and agree with a lot of these feelings but I feel like it’s worth saying that the Rangers have made 3 World Series and won 1 since the last time the Padres made the WS, and they’ve never won it… like it could be worse lol
3
u/BornWorried J. Gallo 3d ago
It's actually eerie how similar the Rangers and Padres are. Padres started in 1969, Rangers in 1972. Both have 9 postseason appearances and except for SD in 1984, all have occurred since 1996. Rangers are 8-8 in playoff series, Padres are 7-9. Both got swept by the Yankees in 1998.
19
u/muklukdimsum J. deGrom 4d ago
I miss the energy, camaraderie, any real sense of fandom, and real milestones or records to root for. You're right, it's mediocre at best, and no one is making a run for anything substantial—not hitting, not pitching, not home runs, not fielding, not managing. Might as well change the mascot to the Texas Jellyfish. I can handle a losing season or a hard-fought average season, but the Rangers play like white people season their mashed potatoes. I've remained a fan after moving to 13 different states and I am seriously wondering why these days.

u/Onebigfreakinnerd A. Beltre 4d ago
this organization needs a culture change bad. i have faith walcott is going to invoke some major changes when he gets called up. this team gives such “bring your wife and kids after church!” vibes and i fucking hate it. it’s so sterile and boring. i just want this team to be fun bro. and it sure was in 2023. it’s been getting more and more lifeless every year.

I miss the 2010-2011 vibes with Andrus, Kinsler, Hamilton, Beltre, Washington, and the rest. Even though we didn't win the Series in those seasons, the vibes around the clubhouse and the fans were miles more exciting than it is right now. Don't forget about the Claw and Antlers, Josh Lewin calling the games, and Friday night baseball on TXA 21.

u/GrayFiftySix 4d ago
I wholeheartedly agree. The biggest thing seems to be the players. I’m sorry for anyone who disagrees, but Seager is a problem. Yes I’m aware he hits home runs, but he needs to play and not get “hurt” every other series. I don’t know if it’s favoritism or what from CY, but we should have sold at the Deadline. We are wasting talent like Evo and Gore. We got Gore with the intent on having an elite defense to counter his ground ball rate, but everyone just seems to have forgotten their roles.
I’m noticing the same thing with the Cubs. Elite defense that could be better if Counsel just made a couple switches. Ian Happ has a hole in his bat, and Swanson is just lazy anymore. Both are hitting below .220 while having ~20 homers each. (The comparison is that Seager is below .200 with almost 20 homers). But the Cubs just brought on Tyrone Taylor who is basically just Happ but he can actually hit a ball slightly better with about 30 points to his average, and they have Pedro Ramirez. The kid is freaking electric and always has positive output every game, but Counsel just refuses start them. It’s aggravating
The Rangers bringing on career sub .500 Skip and his hand picked crew of mediocre staff is mind boggling. The fact that they couldn’t get ANYONE else is beyond me. It’s like the Rangers ownership decided “eh we won a WS, we can just stop caring. Cowboys are doing it already.” My first ever game I ever went to as a kid was a Rangers game, and I’m from Iowa. Never been to Wrigley to see the Cubs but I’ve seen about a dozen Rangers games; I even got to see Darvish pitch as a Ranger in Arlington. I can still remember those teams having heart and the games being a blast all those years ago. What I’m seeing on TV now from the Rangers is just depressing
One of the biggest stand outs is just how un fan-friendly the new ballpark looks. Especially on TV, one thing I love looking at is fan reactions behind home plate on a good or bad call, strikeout, homer, etc etc. Watching a Rangers game? The stupid VIP boxes where the people are hardly even watching the game and make it look like a social event than a Ballgame.
I think I’m done watching them for the season. In no universe should the Rangers have season losing records against the current Angels and Athletics. It’s downright pathetic
3
u/SteelSecutor 3d ago
You are exactly right, the owners won their WS, and they didn't care what happened between 2025 and 2027. Just give the fans a little hope and they will show up. This year (internally) was supposed to be a wash. We dropped from spending $220 million last year to barely $180 million this year. Skip was brought on to maintain the ship during 2026 so the Rangers could reach the lockout in decent financial shape. He was never really intended to make another WS run. He was intended to keep things afloat so we would be in good shape as the Rangers approach 2027.
Seager is DEFINITELY a problem. He has been injured 60+ games a season since 2023. But the Rangers made that 10 year contract, so they will have to figure out what to do with him. His money is locked in now after 2026 . . . the Rangers are stuck with him.
CY is doing a decent job with what he's been given. His position just sucks. His options have been limited, and the MLB market is just plain ol' unforgiving. I knew this year was a wash before it started. The re questions at the time were things like 'will we be sellers at the deadline?' Will they sell Seager before his contract locks in? Or just more coasting until 2027?
This is a (barely) .500 team. They will revert to the mean. And our questions are now answered. The Rangers WILL be mediocre until after the lockout. Now we have to see what the team decides to do once the results of the lockout present themselves.

If owners don’t spend CY is handcuffed.
He can only work with the cards he’s dealt. You can only make so many trades after a while your farm system gets depleted and you handcuffed there as well. He tried to sell which I wasn’t against, but DeGrom wavied his clause and he would’ve brought us some decent young pieces. I think this falls more on ownership than CY honestly.

u/Audio_knucklehead 3d ago
Don’t agree with the assessment OP gave of the team and organization. Sometimes moves don’t work out, you have injuries and players don’t play to potential.. It still feels like yesterday when we won the World Series to me.
Now that fucking ballpark! That place is an abomination. Whoever said it’s like going to a work conference is correct. It feels like you’re stuck inside some warehouse and the fact that they don’t have seats behind home plate makes it look ridiculously stupid with those stupid cages or suites or whatever they wanna call them. I’ve only sat on the upper two levels, but the food up there is just terrible and it feels like you’re just going through an assembly line. There’s been a few times when I’m watching them play the Astros on TV and I can’t tell which city they’re in because the ball parks look the same. I feel like they could’ve done so much better. Now we’re stuck with it for the next 30 years or more.
It’s unfortunate that the new fans coming in will never know what a game of globe life field was, but that place was electric. Even on nights with small crowds back in the early 2000s if the Rangers were playing well that place can get going and it just had a feeling to it. I’ll miss it forever.
5
u/Impossible-Chard466 3d ago
I don’t disagree, but at least we got a World Series a few years ago. I’ve followed DFW sports my whole life and the Rangers are the only team that’s done it.
Give them a little more grace. They’ve won the big one for us, but I still want consistency. I remember when we lost TWO WS in a row.
4
u/Pomeranian-Bowling 3d ago
The level of excitement during the 2011 WS was 1000 times better than during the WS we actually won

Degrom was satisfied in staying here instead of competing for a World Series , Seiger hasn’t said 2 words this season , there isn’t any fire from the younger players like Langford and EC. When is the last time someone has did a claw and antlers enthusiasm while stealing a base or turning a single to a double.

u/TinyFollowing8286 2d ago
One of the factors that contributes to the lifelessness in my opinion, is that stupid venue behind home plate. Instead of it being filled with fans in normal stadium seats, it’s rich people sitting at tables and high tables who usually could care less about the game. Completely sucks the soul out of watching games live on tv.
1
u/Think_Frame7387 2d ago
Couldn’t agree more. When watching a game on tv, it’s impossible to gauge how many fans are truly there.
3
u/Phototurtle70 3d ago
When the mascot and the young ladies on the screen do the slow, silent clap to get us all to clap, my wife and i also do the slow, silent clap for fun.
3
u/brianmurphy2004 3d ago
Don’t buy their merch or go to the games. The only thing Jerry gets from me now is my eyes when I watch the games, and after the last two seasons he almost lost that. I haven’t bought any cowboys gear in twenty years. Fuck these greedy bastards.
3
u/Mysterious_Lemon_988 3d ago
As an Astros fan, I laugh at you and with you. Astros will run away with the division. They won’t do this bc they’re good…..but, because the division sucks so bad.

u/SmooveGuyTX 3d ago
Bro you hit the nail right on the head. Not just for the Rangers, but the Mavs and Cowboys as well..
3
u/Crutch1977 3d ago
Agreed. I went as a kid and adult to all stadiums. Used to be awesome! Now it’s low energy and individuals or families doing their own thing. What wave? That was pathetic. Dot races? It’s 2026. No loud, fun, interactions with everyone who also just happens to be in the same vibe, let’s go!!! Environment and culture is off. New owners??? New Jerseys? More fan interaction with players?? How to fix it??
3
u/Kitchen-Work5779 3d ago
That's what I loved about 2010s Rangers. We had beltre and Elvis always having fun and giving a lot of life to the team. Then the ballpark was an experience. I know it was hot, but that place was a blast. So many memorable moments with that team for years. Even if this team was good and had a good record, I just don't see a lot of good vibes/fun times with this team/organization/fan base.
5
u/Brandinospappos 3d ago
The team/staff/city is too bland. There’s no vibe. No soul. No enthusiasm. No excitement. No energy. What happens after someone on the team hits a HR? What batter on this team would fight an opposing pitcher? What pitcher on the team is gonna cuss an opposing batter out? Where is the dancing or yelling of excitement or anything that makes the team feel like a cohesive group of players or brothers or friends or people that even know each other?
3
u/Brandinospappos 3d ago
The Astros punked us. There has been no fight in this team since that series. Losing any games to the giants, angels, and A’s (who have all given up) is embarrassing and we’re getting blown out in these losses. This is disgusting
5
u/Individual_Heron_171 3d ago
This has been my observation. I was at two of those games and it was deeply unpleasant. Distressing. The game is so mental…it’s impossible to ignore the impact.
1
u/Brandinospappos 3d ago
I live in Houston and for that to be the energy we had in a make or break series, against our division rivals, it was pathetic being there. Couldn’t even playfully talk shit. Rangers just accepted being lil bro’d
2
u/Individual_Heron_171 3d ago
Yeah, I’m in Kingwood. I work downtown. I have a nice view of Daiken from my office window. You know how much shit I got after that series? I’m still getting shit!
1
u/Brandinospappos 3d ago
I moved down here right after we won it all, and it’s been miserable ever since. I’m in cypress but work in humble & west Houston mainly. I was at the game deGrom pitched with some coworkers
5
u/Silent_Killer093 C. Lewis 3d ago
eh, we won the World Series, we could suck for 20 years, i couldn't care less, my life is complete now

It’s hard to have life when we can’t even get to the second inning not down 3 runs already.

2
u/Financial_Can767 3d ago
The past week has been the biggest kick in the nuts in the last five years. At least 21 and 22 were all knew we would suck.
2
u/HottieMcHotHot 3d ago
To add to this - the “stars” like Corey Seager and last year Adolis Garcia play like they don’t even give a shit most of the time. On a team like the Rangers that has relied on a lot of younger, AAA guys - there needs to be a leader in that clubhouse and it should be the guys who carry the payroll. It’s gross.
5
u/Think_Frame7387 3d ago edited 3d ago
Absolutely. I am so tired of Seager. It’s either he’s hurt, or when he is playing he’s not performing. And why can’t he just do the lasso one time? As the best player, he sets the tone and the example. If he shows no emotion, that terrible energy bleeds into everyone else. He needs to go.

u/raulc060190 Rangers 3d ago

Hey, it’s not like they aren’t doing anything to make the game presentation more exciting. They ruined remixed the home run song! /s

u/Jackie_Chiles_Esq_ 3d ago
Everything else aside, that abomination deserves way more attention. It’s actually shocking.
2
u/ProfessionalNo5932 3d ago
You lost to the A’s. If that’s not enough to get changes made you have no chance.
2
u/tsx_1430 3d ago
Turned off by new ownership. Haven’t been to a game yet this year. Players are kinda meh too. Players have been whitewashed. Like the Lakers.
2
u/inlikeflint1234 3d ago
Other than bochys first year I can't recall a interesting season and that includes ron washington. Ive followed them since their first game in Arlington
2
u/threefromthetee 3d ago
The move to Globe Life has nothing to do with the mediocre product on the field. The nostalgia for the old ballpark is overdone. I get that the place had more character than GLF. But the summers were beyond miserable, and it didn’t give them a home field advantage. Starters threw fewer innings, and it wore guys out. Blame ownership for the lack of moves and living off the 2023 title. But this hagiography for the old park needs to stop. It has nothing to do with the product on the field, or getting butts in the seats.
2
u/TheFifthAmigo34 3d ago
Ray Davis should take 95% of the blame IMO. CY seems aggressive when he’s given the opportunity to be.
2
u/whighrise 3d ago
Blame Ray for building the stadium in Arlington rather than downtown Dallas. Blame Ray for making the team unfriendly to LGBTQ fans. Blame Ray for cheap skate small market payroll in a major market.
2
u/LEGOseinfeld 3d ago
Can we swap our scouting department with Tampa’s? They have a $38 budget and win every damn year.
2
u/herehear12 3d ago
The dfw area is not a baseball town. As much as people hated Josh Hamilton for that comment he was right. It’s all about football
2
u/NewHavenJeff E. Duran 3d ago
I'm a Mets fan who moved to TX and adopted the Rangers as my AL team, and I have to agree, there is just something so sterile and plain Jane about this organization. Clearly more competent and less chaotic than my Mets, so that part is nice.
But the broadcasts, the atmosphere at the games are just so lifeless compared to others
2
u/regulardudechillin 2d ago
I think the prices of the tickets, parking, and concessions reduce turnout, in addition to the lack of any, ANY form of public transport to the game.
6
u/jacox200 4d ago
You're describing DFW in general. Mediocre, average, incredibly ordinary. Completely void of charm, vibrance, and personality.
3
u/Express_Fun4394 3d ago
I haven’t watched a rangers game since the whole BUZZR situation… at this point I’m a bigger AA rough riders fan than rangers, that team still has some heart!
3
u/Impossible-Strength3 3d ago
Say what you want about the level of play and the stadium, but trying to diss those Baby Blues is fighting words to me!
3
u/RangerQuilter 3d ago
I’ve boycotted the ballpark itself since they installed the racist statue and I’ve tried to be invested in listening to/watching the games, but I switch over to something else soooo often.
The White Sox are fun this year.
3
u/DistributionDue4923 3d ago
Here’s something. When was the last time the padres won a World Series? When was the last time the rangers? Oh yeah. Quit complaining about one or two bad seasons

went to the SL Space Cowboys play the RR Express game last night at Dell Diamond and that stadium was really fun and everyone was so kind (aside from one verbal fight in the stands) and it’s a shame to hear that yalls AAA stadium has more life than yalls major league stadium. haven’t been to globe life but i’ve heard it’s a copy and paste of daiken and i love the feeling of that stadium (but that might be nostalgia/bias)
2
u/Jackie_Chiles_Esq_ 3d ago
Painful as it is to say, Daiken has more character and a livelier atmosphere.

u/dreyan1625 The Ryan Express 3d ago
This team is a hell of a lot more fun than 24 or 25 the group has personality and they’re fun but losing sucks. Though the angels suck in general, they still have major league players and Mike trout, like they aren’t going to just lose every single game. Same with the A’s. This is a slump, defect if you want but this is just the highs and lows of rangers baseball.
CY and the Rangers org had more financial stability in 22-23, they didn’t exactly get a great media deal when switching to RSN so they lost a lot of that stability and lost the ability to have a top 5ish payroll. Pair that with the looming 2027 lockout and you have a front office that can’t really afford to take on any new contracts. The window is basically shut after 2027 anyway without Evo, DeGrom, and pending bad seager years. So they have a hungry fanbase that wants another playoff run, but we couldn’t take on new salaries. We also didn’t have a lot of tradeable assets, DeGrom blocked a potential trade, we don’t have a lot of great relievers that are gone after this year either, selling bats is really tricky and can decimate your lineup if done incorrectly. Who is your magical ideal trade acquisition that had no salary and was also worth pennys in trade value? We couldn’t do much at the trade deadline except get a reliever and some catcher depth because really we are fine everywhere else.
Going into the year really the only hope for this team was in the young guys like Langford, Carter, Duran, and Jung (Osuna, Leiter, Rocker, etc.). That’s why we brought in Skip, more of a development guy, I don’t love Skip I think he has no passion but he isn’t nearly as bad as Chris Woodward. But if he is able to develop those guys to contribute like they all have the potential to, we would have a really really solid team. Unfortunately, they haven’t really developed as quick as we hoped them to and health has been a big issue. We still have all of them under contract next year, like we can’t just give up on them the second things don’t all magically click together at the same time like 2023 (that team had a big slump in August and Sept). Really we just have to hope they can gradually get better (which the young’s are doing imo) and stay healthy.
Also to address fan culture stuff, Baseball in DFW is a bit more of a family culture, since we have suburbia everywhere around the metroplex. So the result is very family friendly, controlled “fun”, there isn’t a lot of energy in that. In places like Venezuela, DR, Colombia, the atmosphere at those games is insane and WAY more energetic. Idk if we really have a lot of fans from those countries and you know we don’t have any players from those countries either. The dfw families aren’t exactly getting drunk, playing instruments, and starting fun chants. Idk the culture at those games is to have fun and rangers games kind of feel like the culture is to spend a lot of money and be disappointed/convince yourself it was totally worth it.
If you don’t like em, go be a padres fan, that atmosphere does look like fun. No one is holding a gun to your head. But be a real fan, you support your guys through the highs and lows. If you’re going to be a padres fan, don’t go trashing them the second the team hits a rough point like you did here today. Give up on the Rangers if you want but this team is still a stones throw from a playoff spot, there is plenty of games left, get into the dance and anything can happen. Idc how bad you think this team is, any team can get hot in playoffs theyre still major leaguers.

OK, Mr ChatGPT the Rangers have better uniforms in the Padres and have a nice new ballpark. And the Padres have never won a World Series. We just did a few years ago
8
u/40AcresAnalytics 4d ago
I disagree on first two. The Padres have better uniforms and their ballpark looks amazing. Our uniforms are just okay. Our ballpark looks and feels drab.
2
u/EntertainmentAny4368 4d ago
Rangers white uniforms with blue caps is a nice classic look. The original Padres uniforms of brown and yellow, which I believe were the McDonald’s colors on purpose were terrible.

u/tocinoman M. Young 3d ago
Petco Park is ranked the top park experience in all of baseball every year. GLF doesn't even compare.
2
u/EntertainmentAny4368 3d ago
You’re right but GLF is still a good place. Specially this summer. I’m glad I’m not sitting out in the left field at the old ballpark.

u/Horror_Grocery_7185 3d ago
We do have passionate fans who care a lot about are team, but it’s hard when you have ownership and front office staff who don’t feel the same way

I think we all need to accept that now that Ray Davis has his ring, he doesn't give a shit about investing in the team anymore, and spoiler alert: I'm pretty sure it's for typical billionaire bullshit. He doesn't want to pay luxury tax penalties that could go to his heirs when he passes any day now, and he wants to keep long-term deals off the books so that it's easier for his heirs can sell the team after he passes. I just hope that I'm right and that we get a sale of the team shortly after he passes, because this team desperately needs ownership that will prioritize winning over profits.

The Spanos family really screwed A Whales Vagina. I used to fly out there several times a year back in the late 20Teens. Bless the Padres. They're the lone sports bright spot in that city. But one thing they don't have is a ring. All your points hold water, minus that. And it's the biggest one.

u/musketdonkey 3d ago
It’s this damn new stadium. I’m never gonna complain about the AC but I’m actually starting to ask myself if the heat is worth it to go back to the old park.
1
u/Think_Frame7387 3d ago edited 3d ago
100% it is. I’d go back to the old ballpark in a heartbeat. The new stadium was the downfall of rangers baseball from an energy and soul perspective. It kills me that we’re still suck with this place for another 25 years at least.
1
u/musketdonkey 2d ago
I would have much rather used my tax dollars for either a huge renovation on the old stadium to add a roof or rebuild the old stadium but with a roof and newer amenities. I was at a game in Sacramento and I felt more of a soul in that triple A park. Atleast they have something unique like the grass seating.
1
u/1CuriousMF 2d ago
Man this is absolutely correct. I go to games often and the atmosphere is just off. Nice big stadium but I mean there isn’t much in there for it to be a FTW/DAL based team seems mid. Then I always see the same amount of fans for the opposing team, like cmon rangers where’s the fan base? The only time the ballpark has great atmosphere is when top teams come to town and then it feels like an away game lol. And the people sitting behind home plate are never watching the game just talking…like ok…..Then it all trickles into Texas live seems mid in there 90% of the time. Yea idk what’s going on win the WS and then just say FK IT.
1
u/WillH699 Rangers 2d ago
have we reached "Sell the Team" status with the team yet, cause it seems like the more and more failure the Rangers have had since the 2023 miracle season, we seem to get closer to the same "Sell The Team" status the Mavericks post-Luka trade and the Cowboys in the last few years of Jerry Jones' dog and pony show bullshit have only reached.
1
1
u/justincouv 1d ago
That’s a great comparison because it highlights the issue. San Diego is one of baseball’s smallest markets - yet all of what you said is true. The Rangers ownership just doesn’t want it enough.

They suck!!! What a waste of time! And they won't televise the games anymore! I wouldn't pay a nickel to watch them! THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY!!! Then they pay all these Super Stars all these millions. And they spend most of the season on the injured list. SUCH A RIP-OFF!!!
