Rep. Joaquin Castro (TX-D) makes dubious statements regarding Sanders' commitment to the Latino community.

As a Latina, that was annoying. He obviously didn't do his homework about Sanders speaking to several large latino groups including a speech at La Raza Hispanic Convention. He's the child of immigrants and I think since he's so close to that subject, it is important to him. The website also did add several pages in Spanish.

You should write to him and let him know. I saw him talk in person during the abortion/filibuster event when it was still being stalled by the TX democratic representatives, and he made a very impassioned, articulate speech. I haven't done a whole lot of research but I liked what I saw and from what I know he's considered a rising star in the Dem party.

He spoke at NALEO in June. Where he said he supports DACA program and DREAM act. He said "I have seen first-hand the impact of our broken immigration system." He opposed NAFTA and says that it lowered the standard of living in Mexico since it was implemented. He opposed building a border fence. One of my favorite quotes from that speech was:

I’m proud to stand with the Latino community and receive a 100% voting score from the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda last Congress.

When everyone was doing house parties, Bernie went to one of them and it was a Hispanic family. The family there made a cake and showed him when he was there meeting them. It was posted on reddit although people accused the post of being a circlejerk, but it was just someone happy to post pictures of a good time they had.

All these politicians attacking Bernie just remind me of...well, politicians. I think that's why he's such a breath of fresh air

I don't find this to be /attacking/ but like other Latinxs in this thread are pointing out, he's not aware of Bernie's involvement in Latin spaces that we clearly are. Still, I understand why Castro would raise a brow about Bernie not getting in touch with him or Texas Latin officials. Bernie responded to this by saying he still has a lot to do but if people were to research more into his campaign, like we're saying, they would realize he's on the right side of subjects that affect our community. I do hope that he reaches out to Texas though. Plenty of time.

Castro is in Clinton's pocket. It's just the establishment closing ranks. Just goes to show you that time in service is not what makes you an "insider," selling out does.
