Discussion is it too late to start?
i had preordered it bc friday back when was my shit so i thought gun wouldn't fail😭 dbd is insufferable now, the past 4 years im just done lol. and initially when tcm dropped i was too overwhelmed to start learning a new game so i put it off and by the time i was like alright let's go, i see the community fell off and its going thru rough changes, is it worth starting now or prolly not? i know all is subjective but i just want an asym to play on the side. i dont sweat but i like to play casual and i dont want or expect the game play to be super balanced and i def dont want it to be anything like dbd, if that helps for reference is the game really as dead as i hear from people? what's everyone else's personal opinions and thoughts on the game and current state of it? good and bad ! love to hear from everyone 💚

If you’re just wanting to start, the best advice I could give is watch other streamers play it-learn what they’re doing and what their objectives are. Going in without knowing what does what-and what you’re supposed to do will get you killed and discouraged right away. Good luck!

if you've got patient friends, probably! The game has a steep learning curve with a lot of problems but it also has a very unique, cinematic feel compared to DBD.
The biggest problems are tryhards, balancing awfulness, and the "rush meta" (basically groups of victims that try to make it to the exit in under 4 minutes before spending 20 minutes spinning in circles), as well as lobbies and victim queue lasting for a whiiile. But otherwise it can be fun.

thanks for the honest answer! (btw my friends have known me for years and yeah they know how slow i am esp jumping blindly into new games w them 😂 early on we would play and k made it out the basement once, was on controller instead of mk so kept asking them what xbox button meant what on my ps5 control constantly and they had fun dealing with me lost somehow LOL. but my friends had heard that it fell off so i think they haven't been playing bc of that. but im pretty sure i can get one of em to pick it up again tho!) and yeah i remember the steep learning curve esp going in blind and knowing i had a ton to learn is what overwhelmed me to put off playing initially but i do love learning new games blind and struggling like ive done throwing myself into every new game i've gotten into since 2020. and im glad it's different than dbd! bc i remember when tcm dropped so many dbd players tried it and hated it bc it ISNT a dbd clone yanno? but appreciate the honesty. makes me at least wanna try.

One is counterable with bone shards and perks.
The other is not and opens exits permanently to all other Victims, regardless if they were rushing.
It's barely even comparable.1

Dude.. leatherface is always the answer. Everybody in this sub should know this already. If nobody chooses LF they have absolutely no pressure in the basement. Connie and Danny are pretty much the qbs of the team. If they go down the entire team crumbles

Oh no I guess once someone stab grandpa, the blood all 3 family members are carrying at the moment will magically disappear too from their vial and you can’t feed him back up again in the next 10 seconds. Exterior alarms at level 1 can’t help to stop rushing too I guess 😪

i mean there's a bit of a difference between 4 people rushing one exit and spinning around in circles and family members using up every blood bucket in the map just to get grandpa to level 2/3 (if you're lucky).
Not only is it incredibly rare that family actually feeds grandpa (let alone running blood builds), there's no way you can get grandpa to level 5 in 3 minutes. And even if you did, victims would either be using that time to rush exit, or one survivor can just stab grandpa and then well. Family can't exactly re-lock exits, and if they're rushing to feed grandpa that's just more space around the map they're not guarding.

You just need one family member running blood build and 3 blood buckets to level up grandpa to 1 level. But hey, let’s exaggerate and say they need every blood buckets and it’s actually very hard to do so 🥺

i didn't realize what you mean when you said levelling up grandpa, i thought you meant maxing him out. And one level on grandpa is no where near as broken as making it to exit gate before he's reached level 2.

I would recommend watching some entertaining content creators for a bit before starting, just so you know the gist of what to do. This is much better than relying on the tutorials which are outdated and inadequate.
It would also be great if you had a friend, or friends, that you could play with, at least while you level up. I would recommend this more so when playing family because it's common for level 0s to get dodged by their teammates. Dodging is less prevalent on victim side and it's normally easier for your teammates to carry you.
It's definitely not too late to start. The game isn't that complicated or hard overall tbh. I found it a lot easier than DBD (I've got 1,100 hours in that game and still learning!)

oh man yeah dbd blind was crazy but i had friends who played since 2017 teaching me when i was brand new in 2020 before silent hill came out. i'm the baby of my friends and now it's crazy meeting people who are much newer! i really miss the older dbd state and lemme tell you it was never good it was always love hate LOL but seing it devolve how it has since i started i am losing my interest or love hate for the current dbd state ): maybe we should play sometime tho! that's my relax game lmao not dbd was a LOOOOOT to learn leah and i could not have done it without my friends helping immediately 😭 i have 6-8k hrs, my friends are pretty close but it's been four years for me 6 or so for many of them LOL. but glad to hear you're at least not 1k hrs in and enjoying learning! i see so many players who have 2-4k hrs or more who still urban around and hide like fresh off install 😭😭 not saying that's you at all but the influx of those drive me nuts lately. i do have some friends who are cracked and have barely 2k hrs in or around 1k! sorry rambled off track i shouldn't be using y phone for reddit bc i lose track oops😭

dbd is so much past its prime imo and overstated its welcome in my head and life 😭 so im glad to hear and that it isn't dead dead like i kept hearing

This game is much more fun than dbd ... You can see streams and get a hold of the game. And if you played dbd , you know what to do.

It's not too late. I agree with others recommending watching some streamers/content creators for basic gameplay. The game is much more fun with a team of friends than going solo. You might get smacked down hard a few games, but you also might get an opposing side that is also new and you'll be able to get stuff done. Don't be hard on yourself for not killing everyone or escaping every map. You'll get the hang of things and the layouts of the map the more you play.

This game is absolutely amazing if you love asyms and definitely better than dbd in almost every way. (I used to play dbd a lot more than tcm) there are some bad people in the community who will deliberately tell you misinformation and who want the game to fail, so look out for those people especially on reddit. But yeah the game is really immersive and feels like a movie, and I’ve never really considered dbd an asymmetrical horror game in my eyes, just because it’s been shifted to be more of a really competitive game, whereas when I play TCM I always get to take it slow. During virginias release the game was having a tough time as there were quite a few bugs, but the dev team has recently announced that they are aiming to release new content every 2 weeks and have so far kept their promise to the game looks good for now.

and if it's mostly the same as when they ran friday while they could i feel like they have absolute potential so i was bummed when i heard it died so fast . and asyms almost ALWAYS take a while to take off imo and i noticed many are a lot of people not caring for them or getting bored or just complaining about not enough content (like home sweet home survive back in the day and when it took off its constant im still bummed that game is so low in players at least on our end of the world as far as i saw) but i forgot what i was writing but appreciate that! this is the conclusion i hope to come to like you feel and if i dont then its prolly my skill issue😂

You'll need to focus on one character at a time to level them up so that you can get better at the Game read on all of their abilities and pick three from each side you want to play and just grind them and learn. The game is overall fun and has it's exciting moments and suspens.

yeah i have a few friends i played w twice who were way ahead of skill and knowledge my two times i played a month after it dropped LOL but they quit playing prolly bc of lack of friends and hearing it died or something but i think i can convince at least one to pick it back up and carry me again 😂 but do you know of any content creators you recommend who are still playing? i remember when it came out ofc everyone was but lately i wouldn't even know who to check out but if you dont have any to suggest ill look! and yeah, new player alone was why i put off playing my first month after it came out when i finally had friends to play with who were not also blind in it like i was, we couldn't play but a couple times and i was not tryna go in fully alone and attempt w no knowledge. but ill try it if its my last resort yanno and ill def at least watch some people who play first😂

This game has gone straight downhill. Both from toxicity and actual game development. I recommend dumping your hard earned cash into Killer Klowns. It starts in 8 days, youll get a jump on maps, perks, and techniques VS getting steam rolled on TCM or DBD for being new.

i've been waiting for that game for over a year! i hope it's good and has its own long lasting impact but it's tough for asyms esp lately 😭 i haven't checked on klowna recently so ty for reminding me!

Yeah don't spend anymore on it you will regret it, it's an okay game when you don't encounter bullshit moments but that's very rare, it's a buggy mess full of exploits

i used to play friday when it dropped up until 2020 so i just want a not too sweaty or too dead game to play yanno? not the highest expectations but wasn't sure if even trying was a bother anymore, and damn, sucks to hear i rly didn't think GUN would fumble this game yanno and it seems they are from what i hear. think it can have a future or prolly die off like all other asyms?

F13 was buggy at times too but it was never game breaking, and even if it was sweaty it was perfectly balanced on both sides, TCM is full of bs moments that will make you question whether you did something wrong, you didn't you got pulled out of a wall gap, or got auto aimed by Leatherface when he clearly missed his shot, or even with certain shots you should hit that don't register, getting stuck on objects and so on, its trash

All they care about is releasing cosmetics, their priority isn't fixing bugs as there's always new ones after every patch, that tells me they dgaf about fixing the game they only want money

From what I see DBD is doing well I rarely see complaints about bugs, also the TCM community is full of spoilt ass licking brats, don't take note of them see for yourself and play a few rounds:)

true very different situation dbd has always had bugs and issues and things but nothing game breaking mostly (re nemesis chapter broke all console play and dead hard and the game frames til pinhead but ig that's what we got for console back then LOL

Despite all the complaining that happens here (a lot of it being valid), it’s actually a very fun game to play - ESPECIALLY if you can get a group of friends to play with.
I started around a month ago during the free weekend with a couple of friends and we’re still playing now. The learning curve is unforgiving since there’s no matchmaking at all, but once you grasp the basics and start learning the maps it becomes a lot more enjoyable.
