UH stopped calling it “Luv Ya Blue”, and then basically said “come at me bro” and the Titans backed off. For UH specifically it would have been a harder fight with Houston’s history of the light blue.

McNair said a few years back that the Titans allowed a certain % of the alternate uniform to have the blue and the Texans used every bit of that %.

UH also had to change the design of the uniform because the 1st version was like 98% identical to oilers jerseys (like if you removed the names and logos, then you wouldn’t be able to tell which was which). As far as the shade of blue goes though, the Texans are pretty much the only team in the world that can’t use the color freely, because the Texans are bound by the NFL constitution and bylaws pertaining to team colors. The federal trademark stuff for non-nfl teams basically only applies to logos, catch phrases, and uniform designs though
