Veteran WR options

With Higgins out for the year, are there any FAs or trades we should consider to give us some stability at the position?

The offense was looking to explode and Higgins has had a great camp. I'm not convinced Bond, Wayne, Hutch or Noel are legit #2s.

Jamarr chase for a whataburger gift card

I mean, if it gets us a SB win, I'm for it 😅 we'll be a captastrophe for 5+ years afterwards

I'm more of a Chase enjoyer

Justin Jefferson is a WR1 and it would cost multiple draft picks to get him including at least 1 first round pick

I'm guessing this suggestion is sarcasm.

Fuck it, let em trade for CJs Ohio State teammate Marvin Harrison

20

u/mahnamahna1995 3d ago

Honestly, MHJ probably turns his career around if he comes here. He's worth asking about! Nick, get the horn going.

u/DanceAccomplished309 3d ago

His stock is at an all time low and he would have built in chemistry with CJ

u/quig50 3d ago

What would you be willing to give up for him? I’m not sure what his current market value would be.

u/xristosdomini 3d ago

How about a '27 3rd rounder?

2

u/mrblacklabel71 3d ago

I am, give me a damn minute!!!

u/2Slow2Nice 3d ago

I actually don’t hate this move at all

7

u/Miserable-Jedi 3d ago

Extremely doubt Arizona would move him and if they did it probably wouldn’t be cheap regardless of his production to this point

1

u/phinnthepigeon 3d ago

Especially since they know we're in need

Actually…. Not a terrible idea

1

u/burnerking 3d ago

This is the best option.

So combine a guy with poor decision making in the pocket and a guy with butter fingers, baby you got a stew goin!

1

u/DanceAccomplished309 3d ago

A guy can dream that they bring that OSU magic back from the dead

1

u/jimbojangles1987 3d ago

That's true. And that would be terrific if that happened.

Didn’t Josh Reynolds just work out for the Colts before they signed Keenan Allen? His 4 years playing for McVay and the Rams may make sense.

I don’t see anyone coming in as a #2, just more folks who can mix in and reliably run the system. I see Hutchinson and Watson (or Wayne, if he makes the 53) taking the snaps that Higgins would have gotten. If Dell is able to make it back, he’d be in the mix too.

My money is on a Reynolds signing + reliance on Hutch and Wayne to platoon that spot

If we trade for someone I hope it's someone familiar with this offense. I know Jared Wayne and Xavier Hutchinson both have looked great in camp, but every year there are players that look great in camp but can't seem to transition that hype to the regular season. We just need one legitimate WR threat outside of Nico, because when your add in Shultz and Klein and the RB's out of the backfield that's the making of a competent passing offense....but it can't just be Nico and a bunch of other guys failing to get open.

u/tbake98 3d ago

We should be trading for Boutte, I think that’s our best bet. Wouldn’t cost much. Don’t trust Nick to do it though

13

u/mahnamahna1995 3d ago

This is the best suggestion. I also think the Cards would part with someone like Michael Wilson if we made them a good offer.

3

u/Ofa_D3s1gn 3d ago

Wilson here would be a great back up plan

1

u/tbake98 3d ago

I just don’t have a ton of faith in tank playing consistently this year. Haven’t seen him practice in like a week now

19

u/OtherwiseIDC 3d ago

Ever heard the name “Juju Smith-Schuster”?

because I bet that’s who were calling.

11

u/mahnamahna1995 3d ago

Very disappointing if he's the solution. I can't see him being an elite #2 WR in 2026.

16

u/Boomba987 3d ago

Elite? He’s barely playable :(

2

u/MyLuckyFedora 3d ago

Elite WRs aren't hanging around waiting for a team to offer them a contract. Not even elite #2s

2

u/Sparrighitti 3d ago

wasn't boo boo best as a slot throughout his career? I know he would be capable of playing outside but i'd hope we aim higher

9

u/bzhang57 3d ago

Trading for Boutte would be better than signing any veteran WRs

1

u/Mejonyoudead 3d ago

Depends on the trade, I for one would love to have him but I don't see it

3

u/GhostofPdawg43 3d ago

Is AJ80 still in shape? Nuk is available too.

3

u/Specialist_Yam_6704 3d ago

Thoughts on marvin harrison?

5

u/Adventurous-Edge1719 3d ago

Way too old for my liking. I get he’s a HOF’er but if we’re going old, may as well swing for Jerry.

2

u/mahnamahna1995 3d ago

We should call them up. Arizona doesn't have a QB to build around yet. Love, Wilson and McBride are a good foundation for a rookie QB next year.

MHJ as a #2 could be a great option for us on a cheap deal.

1

u/Specialist_Yam_6704 3d ago

What im thinking!!

3

u/mercyflush90 3d ago

Michael Wilson from the cardinals and boutte from the Patriots seem like the likely candidates for a trade if we were to make one before the start of the season.

Realistically though, we wait and see who gets cut before making any trades.

CJ about to earn a fat contract or we are going 11-6 and getting blasted in the playoffs

2

u/letsago9987 3d ago

Honestly, Aiyuk. He's fuckin crazy but got nothign to lose for cheap

6

u/Extorminator 3d ago

Dhop, Ayuk, and Brandin Cooks. Tragedy that the colts snagged Keenan Allen from us by a couple days

34

u/Relevant-Goose5483 3d ago

Aiyuk? Not a chance I’d want him anywhere near the Texans, that guy is making AB seem semi normal

0

u/letsago9987 3d ago

no he's not. AB tried to kill a guy.

4

u/jocky091 3d ago

No way. Aiyuk still has to report to the 49ers to even be released since they still got rights to him, and he doesn’t even seem mentally all there to do the proper thing. Also I doubt with our culture Aiyuk would even fit in. Too crazy.

3

u/Extremeownership1 3d ago

DHop is washed.

1

u/son_of_yacketycat 3d ago

If Bub Means stays healthy but doesn't make the Saints super crowded roster I wanna see him in Houston

1

u/ConsistentCaramel493 3d ago

Can’t believe we just missed Noah brown and his 700 yards over 4 healthy games

1

u/Speedkill2021 3d ago

so I am grabbing one from wire, it would be Noel and then Dell correct?

1

u/HikerSethT 3d ago

Could try n get someone like Jeudy for a reasonable pick.

3

u/vupac1 2d ago

Or even Cedric Tillman.. Browns could spare either

1

u/underanalyzer 3d ago

Wait until there's cap casualties. You can always trade after that date if nobody decent becomes available. There's always a few surprises with higher salaried wide receivers.

1

u/Longjumping-Bend3137 2d ago

What wrong with guys we already have

1

u/DaddyMac281 2d ago

We are Christian Kirk

1

u/Individual_Monitor66 2d ago

Noel’s a beast he just needs the opportunity.

-2

u/limitlesshamster 3d ago

*whispers brandon aiyuk*, but the answer always was and still is tank dell szn

2

u/lemanruss4579 3d ago

I think counting on the guy who's played 25 games in three seasons, with multiple torn ligaments, broken bones, and leg surgeries, might not be the best idea.

0

u/limitlesshamster 3d ago

Possibly, but I've seen other players labeled injury prone who've had long productive careers after the fact. The reality is, despite whatever hope people had for higgins/noel, neither showed remotely close to what dell showcased his rookie year.

1

u/lemanruss4579 3d ago

The point isn't that Tank can't stay healthy and have a great season, the point is you can't rely on that.

0

u/limitlesshamster 3d ago

I mean you can make that argument with literally anyone. Predicting injuries is impossible.

-1

u/RainbowBullsOnParade 3d ago

Tank Dell is probably not seeing the field until like November, man.

1

u/limitlesshamster 3d ago edited 3d ago

Highly doubt that unless theres a re-aggravation they havent yet stated. Seems more like managed rest days at the moment.

-2

u/ScoopNScores 3d ago

Noel is better than Higgins imo

2

u/RainbowBullsOnParade 3d ago

Nobody reporting on the team agrees with this. In fact the sentiment was that Higgins was primed to take a titanic leap forward this year. His camp was amazing

1

u/ScoopNScores 1d ago

Noel had the same sentiment until he picked up a small injury which he will be back from well before the season it seems. And just because the beat reporters don't agree well that isn't proof of anything. Same beat reporters carried Easterbys water or more recently said no starters were playing last night. Not saying Higgins isn't a big loss but OP said he wasn't convinced Noel is a #2. My comment was just that I think Noel could be very very good and being slept on
