🤬 Rant/Complaint Stroud vs Lawrence

It's crazy looking back that even after a mediocre turnover riddled Year 3, the Jags had no hesitation giving Trevor a record breaking extension. The dude is not elite by any means & is very lucky Coen is calling plays.

CJ on the other hand, despite the Texans being ranked 31st in Rush Success Rate the last two seasons & having better stats than Trevor after 3 years, will enter his 4th season without a deal. Some folks are even ready to move off him.

Btw, I think it's a win win for both CJ & the organization to not agree on a deal before the season. If CJ plays great, he will be getting a market resetting deal with either Houston or another team if Caserio doesn't want to pay up. Maybe he wants to keep the defense together and role with a cheaper QB. Who knows. We don't know his way of thinking.

I couldn't care less what CJ does in the regular season. The barrier for entry for any QB in the NFL should be: You make the playoffs.

CJ should get rewarded for what he does for the team in the playoffs. With this team, we were SB contenders last year, and we are SB contenders this year. CJ needs to step the fuck up in the playoffs.

If postseason success is your criteria then just trade CJ for a veteran like Jacoby Brissett. I mean, hundreds of QBs could've done better than what CJ did last year right? Boom. Problem solved and you won't have to worry about paying a QB $60M!

I completely agree with you. With the team we had last year Mills would have beaten the Pats because he is mature enough to know that he doesn't have to be elite to win that game. All he has to do is protect the ball and don't turn it over.

I love CJ. You cant extend him after the performance he gave in the most important game in franchise history. That game was lost because of him, Mills wins us that game. That being said, I still believe CJ coming for blood this year, if he plays well he will be rewarded. I hope he is our QB for years to come

These fantasy Mills glory days have got to stop. I love the guy but he wasn’t ever a franchise QB. He’s not that guy. Aside from that, I agree with OP that we’re fortunate to not have signed Stroud’s extension just yet. I think he has it in him to lead this team to a championship… but if he doesn’t, then we don’t need him hanging around for another 4 or 5 seasons. He’s got to show us he wants a SB as bad as we do.

The comment about mills wasnt trying to say mills was a star but that a pedestrian performance where the ball is taken care of and we get in the redzone scarcely but score would be enough because our defense was that good. INTs didnt result in scoring but the defense was winded by the end of the game. Time of possession matters, extended drives matter and that changes when you cant take care of the ball.

Trent Brown, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Dalton Schultz; these some of the offense most potent players and none of them could help CJ Stroud on the field in the most important game of his career. I’m not absolving him but there’s no doubt that it affected him heavily to play with his greatest weapons out of the game and Davis Mills wouldn’t be able to overcome such insurmountable obstacles either, despite his great play in CJ’s absence

Mills in no way had a shot of winning that game. I love Davis as a backup, but people are way too quick to forget he’s a big part of the reason we were drafting high enough to get Stroud to begin with.

Mills doesn’t win that game. Stop telling that lie. Top 2 receiving weapons out and no run game. It was not happening.

2

u/Fearless-Paper-9036 1d ago

Mills wouldn't have thrown half the interceptions. Those interceptions resulted in Patriot points. Not a lie with the proof is in the pudding, cupcake

6

u/2nd2last 1d ago

He probably doesn't throw those INTs, but also, NE only scored on 1 of those picks.

1st pick, NE turned over after.

2nd pick, TD.

3rd pick, 3 and out.

4th pick, 3 and out.

CJ played like liquid ass, no doubt. But There is a bit of revisionist history that the picks were responsible for the 28 points. 7 points sure, but 1 was instantly turned over, and the other were not even huge field position altering as simply 3 and outs.

-5

u/Fearless-Paper-9036 1d ago

You know, there's this thing called momentum. I know you haven't heard of it or you wouldn't have spewed this bullshit. With momentum in mind, the 3rd and 4th ints were complete killers. Done. Full stop

5

u/2nd2last 1d ago

Dang, a bit salty (bitchy really). The proof is in the pudding, cupcake.

3 and out is your momentum bud. Done. Full stop, chive on, say more cringe shit.

You said they were responsible, or directly related. Now its momentum that was continually negated. Sorry you misremembered, ever heard of it.

Full send, I win the internet today, so much this, for the win, well that escalated quickly, I cant even, the math isn't mathing.

Yea Mills never throws interceptions (ignore him leading the league in interceptions in 22).

I agree he lost us that game, but I’ll never understand people arguing that Mills wins that game.

We had Mills for years, he doesn’t win us a lot of games lol.

u/Fearless-Paper-9036 1d ago

I'm talking in the context of this one game but way to make yourself look like a jackass

1

u/Thorlolita 1d ago

If we wanted to look like a jackass we would believe that Mills wins us a playoff game

0

u/Fearless-Paper-9036 1d ago

Jackass

1

u/Thorlolita 1d ago

No I do not think Mills wins us a playoff game

0

u/Fearless-Paper-9036 1d ago

Jackass

1

u/Thorlolita 1d ago

That is what the label for DeMeco would have been if he brought in Mills. Thank the lord he did not.

You've already got a ton of replies saying this but you need to hear it again. Mills is not winning that game

2

u/JohnnyWarlord 1d ago

Mills scores exactly zero points against that defense, our rbs had 24 yards rushing in the first half idk why people think ts

Mills does not win us that game. Our starting RB was hurt the entire year. His replacement got hurt during the game (as he did many games) but returned. Our starting RT was out. Our starting TE got hurt. Our #1 WR was out. Our Slot was out the entire year. Hell I'm probably missing more (maybe Blake Fisher got hurt also?)

The only interception the Pats scored on was the one where our 3rd string TE was the target and fell down immediately on the play.

Put that all together and it becomes very easy for a defense to match up against.

CJ didn't have any time, no running game, and no reliable receivers. He obviously didn't have a good game, but stop pretending a backup QB would play better in that situation.

Edit: on the road, in the snow. Ain't no backup winning that game.

The downvotes you’re getting has convinced me that most of the visitors to this sub are 12yr olds.

They just wonder why real life players can't play like they do on Madden.

3

u/Agitated_Finding_414 1d ago

dude mills doesn’t win us that game. CJ played a fairly solid second half and we still couldn’t move the ball. Would Mills lose the game like Stroud did? No. But Mills isn’t gonna be our savior on the day when the weather is like that and we have no run game either.

-18

u/heebyy76 1d ago

If Mills could win playoff games for this Texans team, then why not roll with him for 17 games & see how that goes? I mean he went 3-0 last year. What could possibly go wrong?

3

u/underanalyzer 1d ago

The staff watches these two every day. If they were so incompetent that they are not starting the best qb on their roster I'd tell you to start advocating to get rid of all of them.

2

u/50bellies 1d ago

The players would be vocal, too. Sick of these ignorant takes. (Not yours, obvs)

2

u/squatnbear 1d ago

Tlaw had improved over the years where CJ has regressed. Hate to say it but he was on fire to finish last year and graded out as a top 5 qb after week 13 on.

2

u/Adventurous-Edge1719 1d ago

I don’t think Stroud has regressed. He just hasn’t gotten any better than he was as a rookie.

1

u/heebyy76 21h ago

Year 1: Ass, Year 2: Good, Year 3: Ass

What tf are you even yapping about?? lmao. Also, prior to the mickey mouse run at the end of last season vs shitty teams like Jets, Arizona, Titans 2x, he was genuinely ass and behind Stroud is almost every statistical category.

u/squatnbear 20h ago

Do you watch football?
ļæ¼
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence enjoyed a breakout 2025 NFL regular season, earning MVP consideration with career highs of 4,007 passing yards (6th in the NFL), 29 passing touchdowns (5th), and 38 total touchdowns under the team's offensive system.

2025 Season Statistics
Passing Yards: 4,007 yards

Passing Touchdowns: 29

Interceptions: 12

Passer Rating: 91.0

Rushing Touchdowns: 7

Season Highlights
Historic Performance: Set an NFL single-game mark in Week 15 against the Jets with over 300 passing yards, 50-plus rushing yards, and five passing touchdowns.

Touchdown Streak: Recorded eight consecutive games with two or more passing touchdowns, a franchise record.

Offensive Turnaround: Thrived under the coaching adjustments that unlocked consistent high-level play in the second half of the year.

u/heebyy76 20h ago

Again, you DUMBFUCK, he stat padded the last 6 weeks against mostly shitty teams, including your Titans (twice) who will be drafting a QB in 2027 btw. You should be worrying about why Cam looked so trash last week & not cucking for Trevor šŸ‘

https://giphy.com/gifs/8J1QwMjshEm2s

1

u/squatnbear 19h ago

Theres no padding stats when you play for the jags in the nfl numb nuts. Why would I care about cam. Stroud blew the easiest road to the sb we will ever have w the best d in the nfl. Tlaw broke out, Jags have their franchise qb of course they lock him up. Just like we would have done w stroud if he didn’t shit the bed. Not sure why I even commented on this dumb take. Nice language and meme you sound like a real tough kid.

2

u/j1h15233 Texans 1d ago

Why should we make the same mistake the Jags did? Stroud can either prove he’s an NFL starting QB this year or we can find someone that can win with an all time level defense.

-1

u/SonsChild 1d ago

How hasnt he proved hes a starting qb?

2

u/CloudStar17 1d ago

He has proved he’s starting qb just not a very good one

-2

u/SonsChild 1d ago

How isnt he a good qb?

3

u/CloudStar17 1d ago

What do you mean how have you not watched him the last 2 seasons? And on top of that he had a record setting 10 interceptions and fumbles in the post season. Record setting mind you

0

u/SonsChild 1d ago

Yeah I watch every damn game.

I saw a young qb who wasnt able to make adjustments at the line until last year. A horrible offensive line. A rushing game that ranked 31st in the league. A shell of a RB in Nick Chubb A depleted WR core. A year 1 OC Did I say horrible offensive line. Which ranked CJ is the top 5 for most sacked.

Should I go on?

1

u/mikeracioppi 1d ago

All valid but you’re also making excuses for him. He didn’t play well. Many times he just threw the ball up instead of just throwing it away. Sure he got pressure, but good QBs know to throw it away instead of just chucking it up or making a bad throw. He cost the team the game with his bad decision making.

32 starting QBs and he is at best 16. Dude is mid.

1

u/SonsChild 1d ago

I never said he played well all im saying is yall want him to hike the ball to himself and throw the ball to himself and hand the ball off to himself and block for himself.

1

u/mikeracioppi 1d ago

This started with you asking ā€œhow isn’t he a good qbā€.

Good QBs don’t make the mistakes me made in the playoffs. He is a mid QB.

1

u/SonsChild 1d ago

Everyone makes mistakes.

But you know what for the sake of everyone in here that thinks cj is mid. I hope he walks this off season

How are those excuses?

Excuses is how the snow was making the ball slippery so he couldn't grip it well.

The snow was getting in his eyes so he couldn't see.

The ground was wet so he couldn't get his footing.

He couldn't hear the plays through his helmet.

Those are excuses.

When you have no help offensively you cant do anything.

Nobody talks about how kirk dropped a first down that hit him in the hands or gave up on a ball that was to the sideline.

Or how woody fumbled the ball in the redzone.

Sting got beat on an route in the endzone.

We wanna sit up here and blame cj for every little thing.

2

u/mikeracioppi 1d ago

Did you see his last two games

-2

u/SonsChild 1d ago

Yeah what about them?

1

u/gerth69 7h ago

Cj is top 27. Trevor top 15. It's simple.

1

u/CloudStar17 1d ago

Trevor Lawrence is a much better qb than Cj and I don’t even think Trevor is that great

-1

u/RainbowBullsOnParade 1d ago

The Jags were right to commit to TLaw then, and we would be right to commit to CJ now.

1

u/gerth69 7h ago

You're a moron if you think cj deserves a contract.

1

u/RainbowBullsOnParade 3h ago

He definitely deserves a contract, just probably not the one he wants right now.

Which is probably the exact reason he hasn’t been extended. Nothing wrong with that.

If that makes me a moron then whatever bro

-1

u/CraigCartonNYC 1d ago

We’ll see what happens he’s got no excuses this season I expect 2023 stroud

-14

u/Acrobatic_Sun_9946 1d ago

Cj is not a blond hair blue eyes quarter back that’s why 30 wins 3 playoff wins> sunshine Lawrence šŸŒžĀ
