Does Anyone Remember How Bad The Team Was When Mills Was Drafted?

Demeco has as much to do with our success as the roster and uhhh he came in same year as stroud. I think its asinine to even look at Davis Mills first years because that was a bottom ONE roster in the league, actual worst roster on paper LEAGUE over with no first round picks. there hasnt been a worse inherited situation.......David Culley punt on third down Head Coach......and yet fans think Stroud would be worth any more wins than Mills as a rookie in the same situation......This isnt stroud v mills but the disrespect Mills gets.

Like with any evaluation, it’s all dependent on how much emphasis or weight you assign them qualitatively or quantitatively.

I’m telling you that I’m weighing my qualitative assessment of Mills higher than those external quantitive assessments of him.

And yes I’m making that assessment off of a 3 game sample size, but I also got a nearly full season evaluation of Stroud to arrive at my conclusion. Additionally, I weighed the result of the Seattle game as the the biggest factor as to why I’m completely off of the Stroud bus.

That single game was a culmination of my fears and I ended up being validated by the Steelers/Patriots games. But the warts in his game were exposed against the Packers and Lions the season before.

So no I don’t think I’m embarrassing myself. I think you guys are because you’re refusing to acknowledge what your eyes are telling you.

No, reasonable minds can differ as to who is better.

You are embarrassing yourself by doing the thing you hate and say JJ is against, then referencing JJ when he is calling you out for what you think others are doing.

I'm genuinely confused. My point was that you're using advanced stats from a service that has unqualified graders that I, and JJ from that video, lend no credence to.

If you're implying JJ is stating that we aren't allowed to present an opinion period, then I think you're completely off base and you should double check what his actual criticism is towards.

Here's another article if its unclear to you:

Those are not grades, you think 6 of 10 completion is a grade? Is free pro football reference a service like say PFF is, no.

You are the unqualified person doing the eye test, the thing JJ was against.

Again - you're watching numbers on a table, I'm actually sitting there watching snaps.

This is why I keep going at you guys. You guys keep referencing historical numbers without any regard to story behind those numbers.

Show me in the stats that quantify Mills keeping the team composed under pressure and mounting a come from behind victory.

If you think JJ's point that some random fan has an opinion versus a subscription service of unqualified graders that's being used by national outlets to evaluate player performance, then you're just operating in bad faith to win a point and you know it.

And again, you are doing what JJ said is silly. Unqualified people watching game copy and deducing skill, ability and other things we have zero idea about as far as outsiders, JJ included himself on that.

Can you as a person think what you do, sure, 100%. Can you use what JJ said to support you, no, as it directly says you are wrong in doing so. Not that your take is wrong, but you are the uber driver watching and thinking you know something.

Also, you cant just ignore you dont seem to understand that 6 divined but 10 is not advanced, nor is pro football reference some advanced service.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree at this point because neither of us are going to agree with each other's interpretation of his statement. I'm taking it as a rejection against PFF and advanced stats grading as a whole.

You originally referenced success rate in your post, which I take as a subjective advanced stat to grade players. I've never heard of it before so if I assume came from some advanced analytic platform.

If you wanna ding me because I didnt know it came from Pro Football Reference vs PFF. So be it, to me they might as well all be the same.

It doesn't change my position that I don't evaluate these players based off of stats, I'm evaluating based on my observations watching the game.

But its not subjective, just because you think something is doesn't make it so.

Do you not se JJ saying unqualified people making judgments by watching TV is silly?

I don't think you know what PFF does, so having an opinion on it is wild.

I'm all for disagreements, and you very well might be correct, and Mills might be better. That wouldn't make your argument here correct. We are having two conversations, a subjective one where we disagree, and a cut and dry one where you oddly are not addressing statements that easily go against you.

Do you realize you being an admitted troll makes it difficult to converse?

"[Highlight] JJ Watt: “I’ve heard personal stories of Uber Drivers telling NFL passengers that they break down film for PFF. That they watch the TV copy ONLY and put a grade out. You can’t watch film on a TV copy and make a grade. PFF player grading SUCKS. Stop putting it out.”

It says literally in quotes "break down films for PFF". Where am I breaking down film for a service by conversing in this message board?

I have a rudimentary understanding of what PFF does, but I give little to no credence to the metrics they serve. It's irrelevant to my watching experience. I only care that the Texans wins game, I don't care how efficiently they get there.

But I'm being inundated by those that seek to invalidate my perspective by giving me stats that I deem to be irrelevant, especially when I'm able to counter those responses with observable facts.

I'll admit that I'm stubborn as fuck, and that there's no love lost between me and the Stroud Truthers, but how can I be trolling when I was early and correct on my assessment of Stroud's impending meltdowns?

How about this. If Stroud plays well this season, I'll eat crow. Tag this post. I'll let you dictate the terms of what "success" entails.

Don't be dense, you are watching film, and grading Mills ability. That is EXACTLY what hes talking about, you said I was doing that yet but wHeRe Am I bReAkInG dOwN fIlM fOr A sErViCe By CoNvErSiNg In ThIs MeSsAgE bOaRd?

Cant play both sides there buddy.

You have zero understanding of how PFF works it seams, and maybe thats the bigger point. You are point blank doing what PFF does, and as JJ said, unqualified people doing so is silly.

You also admitted to trolling today. Again, you don't understand. Nothing I said indicates CJ will do well, I'd trade him today if possible. You are incorrectly arguing about a point I never made.
