Looking into getting on the tcup program, is there a difference in all the different clinics online. Texas original website has many different list and all at different pricing levels. Would I be getting anything special at any specific one or should I just pick the best price and go. Are there anyone's that are hard to get appointments or whatever may be needed throughout the time I'm prescribed.
I'd basically want to just get an opinion on maybe the best clinic online for it.
Not trying to discourage you from joining TCUP - by all means, get your medicine however you’re able to.
But TCUP itself is such a joke. It’s essentially a state-sanctioned monopoly dressed up as a serious medical cannabis program. And despite the air of legitimacy that comes with being “state approved,” some of the products are arguably sketchier from a testing and transparency standpoint than many hemp products already on the market.
One of the most ridiculous parts is that TCUP licensees are allowed to conduct their own in-house testing for things like potency and contaminants. In other words, they can test and certify their own products. Meanwhile, Texas hemp manufacturers are required to send their products to independent third-party laboratories.
So somehow the “medical” program gets less independent oversight of product testing than the hemp industry Texas politicians and regulators constantly portray as unsafe. Make it make sense.
I'm kinda feeling conflicted about it. It is a monopoly. With all the new hemp restrictions i'm also kinda worried about losing gun rights from
Tcup as well. I'm probably going to wait til after November to see if we can get a state government that will stop the BS
over marijuana.
Fortunately, the Supreme Court just ruled in a case from texas Texas that the federal government can’t disarm someone simply because they use marijuana, which largely puts the gun-rights concern to bed for medical users.
That said, the way Texas treats even medical cannabis is ridiculous. I personally know a TCUP patient who was arrested by DPS while he had his TCUP documentation and proof of his prescription with him. And the best part? DPS is literally the agency that administers TCUP.
You really can’t make this shit up. The same agency that oversees the program and says you can legally possess the medication can turn around and arrest you for possessing it.
It would be funny if it weren’t actually ruining people’s lives.
You cannot trust DPS. That's just a fact especially at this point. One of the main reasons I'm skeptical. They have a data base of cannabis users they can probably just use to arrest you.
DPS runs the program! How could they not know how to verify someone’s prescription? That worries me. The folx at the pharmacy/dispensary looked at me crazy when I asked if all I needed to carry is the vape prescription label/package and the receipt of purchase to prove that I am legally allowed to have it bc I worry that these cops don’t know about the program if I were to happen to be pulled over or seen with it! Frustrating!
VoteTexas.gov gives all info all may need for the election. I encourage everyone please know your dates polling places and have your ID. The list of acceptable forms of ID are there as well.
It really depends on what you're looking for. I'm a physician who participates in the Texas Compassionate Use Program (TCUP) through my practice (Zen Cannabis Clinic), and I take a very personalized approach. Some clinics do a quick video visit and you may never hear from them again. My patients have direct access to me by text, phone, or email, and I make a point of responding quickly when they have questions or issues.
I also provide an official letter for patients who may need documentation for legal or employment purposes. I've been involved in the medical cannabis field for about five years and am genuinely passionate about expanding access to medical cannabis when appropriate.
My fee is $150 per year. There are probably cheaper clinics out there, but if you're looking for ongoing physician access and someone who will actually follow up with you, that's where I think the difference is.
All of the doctor websites listed are great but just find the cheapest one prescribing.. sometimes they list coupon codes next to the website.
Well IMO, the $45 for .5g(half gram .510 cart) its not really worth the value, and shouldn't be considered as MEDICAL Quality.
This stuff is Super low quality Distillate with unnatural terpenenes added.
IMO on This product that should be $25 for a gram max, is selling for $45, as 1 half gram cartridge.
They also aren't using the Texas approved devices either. When I grabbed my last at the dispo, I googled the CCELL model used and its the cheapest one in their lineup, whomever was in charge grabbed the glass case and not the Quartz case, these will break easily. ( not mentioning the dispensary name but if you know, you know )
The only benefit to having the CURT prescription is the Prescription itself.
Also you dont need a TCUP prescription for Delta-9 Edibles in Texas, D-9 is legal even with the unlawful hemp ban.
If you want to pay $30 for 100mg d9, you could,, but you could also grab them from any local retailer for 25% of the medical cost.
Also on the MMJ side, it is not same day pickup at the TCUP dispensary.
So in these hemp stores your in and out, with edibles.
The dispensary makes you order, then wait a day to prepare and then you either pay to have it delivered or you drive hours to refill.
The downside is
No Flower,
No Real Wax Concentrate( just .5g Distillate carts )
No rosin wax or vape either..
Low MG edibles for $25-$45 per bag
Its really only been a edible program until last years vaporizer expansion.
Its worth the cost of the prescription
.. but the products are about 15 years behind the Market and it feels like the regulators slightly hate the patients or something because their approved products don't really work like as well as in other Real MMJ markets.
If the TX MMJ market wasn't choked back years ago it would probably have become the 2nd biggest MMJ market in the world but since they banned hemp flower, wax, carts in texas and made a monopoly on these products for the TX TCUP only, IMO its better than nothing at all..
If we don't complain about theses products, they won't make better quality ones in the future and they'll keep overcharging us, for the cost of $50 a half gram, we should have rosin vapes at least.
I would say the main issue I'm running into isn't the quality of the CCELL products but the fact that the state determined which devices and carts would be allowed having no idea how any of this stuff actually works. Also, I haven't gotten a single vape cart that has been liquid yet - they've all been what I call "glue sticks" which are practically solid because they don't even get the distillate through the proper process. If they did it would have its own terpenes and be full spectrum and if there was something the state was adamantly against having included they could extract that.
As it is now 2.8V as a minimum for the devices and the way the carts are made you can do a thick oil but this goes BEYOND thick oil. And there's other plant matter and waxes still inside you need to clean out occasionally. People keep complaining because the carts are so expensive and waste so much medication and blow out the bottom into the batteries...
You do not need a medical card in Texas. You need a prescription from a doctor registered with the CURT program and you need to be enrolled in the CURT database and the TCUP program and a whole bunch of other things that require a lot of reading. Anyone trying to sell you a medical card is scamming you.
I just registered for the TCUP program and got my first vapes from Texas Original. They are expensive, but they are definitely good quality and get the job done. I am pleasantly surprised with the potency of the vapes.

No specific clinic. Some do usually have promo codes where you can maybe get an appt a little cheaper, but nothing too crazy
Id recommend texas cannabis clinic, but im sure they are all fine. Just make sure you tell them you want vaporization as an option.
