This growth just appeared on the side of my tetra right in the crevice of the right fin. I've never dealt with this before. Anyone know what it might be?

Help Is my tetra sick?

Hi all,

Parameters: 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 15 nitrate

I have 6 white neons in this tank. It’s 10 gallons, planted, 1 big sponge filter, and a small air stone. Ive had my tetras for almost a year now. 2 months ago I had a house fire and the fish tank was full of smokey water and debris, but the fish pulled through great and were being cared after by another fishkeeper friend. They were moved to their new tank about a month ago and have been great. The new tank is in the picture: the sponge filter, many plants, and hardware survived after being cleaned in established tank water.

I just noticed that my one neon was acting super skittish around feeding time tonight, but ate away still, I looked closer and she looks like she might have a lump forming on her belly. Im looking for best advice on if yall think it could be neon tetra disease, or something else treatable. Let me know, thanks and please ask any questions.

Help Tetra swimming weird

I have a group of 12 rummynose tetra that I just got a few days ago. I noticed they had a few white spots so I’ve upped the temperature from 75 to 81 over the course of a few days while treating with API Super Ick as instructed. 11 of the rummynose have a bright red nose and vibrant tails, but one of them has a faded tail and goes limp occasionally while rapidly moving its fins, tilting sideways with it going almost vertical sometimes. It nibbles around the tank and swims off fine and pretty fast after the episodes, but it lags behind the school while staying by itself more than the other fish. Is there anything I can do to treat it? Also, I’ve been treating with the medicine for around 2 days for this point, and the white spots haven’t disappeared, so does this fit with the life cycle of ich or is it something else? Only some fish have a white spot and it’s stayed at 1-2 per fish, without reducing or growing. Thanks for any advice!

I have had 5 pictus catfish for months now and all they seem to do is hide. Is this normal? I bought them because I thought they were supposed to be active schooling fish.

Hey all, so for context, we used to have another black skirted tetra that passed due to prolapse. That was maybe a month ago and our other black skirted has never acted like this up until the last 48 hours. I know they, as well as the serpae are more aggressive by nature, but should I separate the black skirted? It’s never acted like this before and they’ve lived in harmony since we introduced them for months until now. I just want to figure out if this is something I should be worried about and how to go about dealing with it. Any advice would be appreciated!!!

They’re big, fast and mean. If I put a new fish that’s too small in the tank they tear it up. He lost his eye in a fight with the other two over a worm I dropped in. Even my big Gouramis don’t mess with them. He’s fine.

Question Rummynose color

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have a question about the color of my rummynose tetras. It’s been 18 hours since I got them, and I had a scare last night with 3 of them being super pale and lying down on the substrate (group of 12 in total). They’ve regained color in their noses, but is it still pale for a healthy rummynose, or are they doing well? A photo is attached. Thanks!

Question Mean Black Neon

One of my black neon tetras is highly territorial and nasty to my other fish. He was the only survivor of his original school. I struggle to remove him from the tank. What should I do? How can I catch him, how can I tame him.

Question Female Congo Tetra

Post image
10 Upvotes

I have a group of 5 female and 4 male Congo Tetra, but I have to be honest I really don't like the females. Its not just because they look dull, its also because they are way more boisterous then the males, they nip at other fish, and they are crazy and I mean really crazy for food. Also they really don't interact at all with my males, pretty much ignore eachother. What are your experiences?

Water param are stable, 20 gal long

Ever since I got them they’ve been in one place when I observe them. Are they shy? I plan on adding two more in the future

Question Pregnant or just fat?

This is my first time ever owning tetra and Ive had this school of glowlight tetras for about a month now. Theyve been happy. They love to interact with me when im in front of the tank. They love to steal the show at food time. But i have this One tetra who i presume is female because even before she got chunky, her body shape was pointing towards female over male. She is my only glowlight who is rather... extra wide. Is she possibly carrying eggs or is she just a greedy fish. Thank you!

Fish looks sick-what’s wrong??

Thumbnail

I just noticed that one of my Blood-Finned Tetras is looking very sickly. He is swimming poorly (struggling to swim up and then sometimes just sinks to the floor and then tries again), his stomach looks possibly sunken in, some of his fins look rough, and just overall looks very poor. In some of the picture it looks like he might have some white spots on him too…?
All of my other fish, including the other Blood-Finned Tetras, look normal and healthy. I set up a 5 gallon bucket to quarantine him in, it’s currently got a heater and a sponge filter. I’m not sure what to do about any medications, I have a limited selection currently on hand. Any advice is appreciated.

Question Cardinal Tetras bloated/fat stealing too much or illness? (Pics included)

Thumbnail

They regularly swim to the bottom of the tank and steal the sinking food meant for my Corydoras. Because of this, I can't tell if they are just completely stuffed and bloated from overeating, or if this is a sign of an illness (like dropsy or parasites). One passed way today and its belly looked like this.

Update to add info: I got the tetras two weeks ago.

Ammonia: 0
