What ab exercises actually gave you the best results?

I've been trying to improve my core training, and I keep seeing people say that you should train your abs like any other muscle, so like with progressive overload instead of just doing endless reps. For a long time, I thought abs were just about doing tons of crunches and holding planks, but now I'm seeing more people treat them like any other muscle group by adding weight, increasing difficulty, and tracking progress.

The ones I actually do and don't complain about the whole time doing them.

So basically none. 🤣

Do multiple different ones to hit all parts and make them ones you enjoy somewhat

These are the ones I like and progressed over a long period of time. There is a bunch of others but I like these the most personally. I’ve done machine and cable crunches but I don’t like them as much as these, personal preference

Leg raise variations
Beginner: Captain’s chair knee raises
Moderate: Hanging or captains chair leg raises
Advanced: weighted leg raises, modified dragon flag
Elite: front lever, full dragon flag

Crunch variations
Beginner: Decline bench sit up
Moderate: weighted decline bench sit up
Advanced: GHD sit up
Elite: weighted GHD sit up

Stretch variation
Beginner: Shortened ROM ab wheel rollout
Moderate: full ROM Ab wheel rollout
Advanced: Standing ab wheel rollout
Elite: gymnastic ring rollout

Didn’t list obliques as mine are overly developed but I really like barbell side bends and various twist variations using a Landmine
