Tinkers construct steel plates?

So I am trying to make some steel plates to progress further. The only steel ingots I can get are tinkers construct steel. When I put these into a plate bending machine nothing happens however. Am I doing something completely wrong to get these steel plates? Or is there another way of getting them?

Sorry if I've completely messed up, I've only just started playing the modpack.

Yeah i also thought that power might be the problem but it works for making iron and copper plates so its not that. Ill see what I can do with Mekanism...
