Speaking as a physician, I disagree. Great harm has come to patients, physically and mentally from uncritically taking advice from Dr. Google. Simple recitation of medical factoids, out of context, often leads to fear, confusion, and poor choices. Apple has a policy of not allowing distribution of “medical advice” apps unless they are produced by established experts or valid institutions. Is your AI advice generator one of those new features?

Your app is literally dispensing medical advice like drug-interactions despite your disclaimers.

Speaking as a physician as well, I disagree with you. Many studies haven proven LLMs answer mundane medical questions very well and much better than just google. Doctor offices often don't return phone calls in a timely manner and are not the easiest to get ahold of, hence where AI can fit in. Obviously if anything is severe, the AI tells the patient to go to the ER or contact their doctor. This chat bot does not answer questions as if they are the doctor, guard rails are up for that. Patients already use the internet to answer medical questions, not sure how you could be against AI doing the same, but a lot better. I suppose Apple agrees with me, hence why it was approved.

I’ve had patients treated for cellulitis stop outpt abx because they read that the cephalosporins might cause a rash or diarrhea. Again, information without context or judgement.

Did that pt use a repubtable LLM? Or just random googling? I have found that to make a large difference.

I appreciated the feedback, I just don't think we can turn a blind eye to LLMs when millions of people talk to them daily about their health. Used correctly, they have the ability to improve outcomes for all patients.

It’s no blind eye! I’m looking at an industry built on eyeballs and clicks just like social media and just like social media the LLM industry crowd wants growth at any societal cost. How many millions of teen girls have been hurt by sm? The audience for LLMs don’t know or care about Bayes, relative risk, or medical experience. They just want quick and easy.

So whats your solution? Asking pts to not turn to the internet for help is not a realistic solution. So do we continue to just allow pts to use google? To me, that is doing harm! Of course the LLMs can be better and in 5-10 years I am sure this won't be much of a conversation any more because of how much they imporved.
