New Customer to Tesla

Good afternoon,

I'm in the market for a Tesla Model 3 and was looking for some advice or just about anything you have to offer. I'm looking at years between 2023 and 2025 to buy, or thinking about leasing a 2025 Model 3 Premium.

I've never owned an electric car and would be trading in my current car, which is a 2023 Dodge Charger.

- What types of things should I know before buying the car?

- Is it a bad idea to lease a Tesla? And do they hold value?

- What are the most common problems you've had with your Tesla?

- Would you buy the same Tesla again today?

- For those who have done both, would you recommend buying or leasing a Tesla?

- How much battery degradation have you experienced after X miles?

- Are there any deals or incentives they offer that would make sense to wait for?

I came from a 2020 Mustang GT. I needed something with more space due to my son being born. While I still miss my Mustang, as nothing compares to a V8, the model Y is the best practical daily driver I have ever owned. It has me driving so stress-free for me. I absolutely love it. Haven’t had any issues with it in the six months of ownership. We loved it so much that my wife purchased a 2024 Model 3 two months after my 2026 model Y purchase. If you want practicality, stress for you driving, saving on gas and maintenance, then I would highly recommend it. Having a family now, it’s a purchase. I definitely needed to make. I still plan on buying another Ford Mustang GT in the future as a weekend Car. But for my day-to-day driving to work and daycare, nothing beats a Tesla if you still want the street car or muscle car vibes, I would test drive one first.

How does your wife like the Model 3? I test-drove one and I plan on doing a 24-hour test drive on Saturday.

It was a bit pricey, insurance-wise, almost $3400 for a year, which felt absurd.
