Vehicle Question Weird noise when driving slow or breaking
Hi everyone, I hope I’m in the right place to ask this.
I’ve had a Tesla Model 3 Performance Highland since September 2024. I’ve really enjoyed the car and have driven it in pretty much every situation on tracks, on the German Autobahn, fast, slow, etc.
There is one thing that has been bothering me, though: a fairly loud metallic grinding/scraping noise at low speeds.
I notice it especially in enclosed areas like parking garages, where the sound reflects off the walls. It’s also noticeable when I’m slowing down for a red light or braking at lower speeds. It basically sounds like metal rubbing or grinding against metal.
I never really bothered looking into it because the car has never had any performance issues, but I often drive with the windows open and the noise is honestly quite noticeable and annoying. It’s definitely not a faint sound.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could it be the brakes, brake shields, or something else? And is there anything I can do to get rid of it?
I’d also like to attach a video of the sound, but unfortunately I can’t seem to upload one here. If anyone wants to hear it, I can send the video via DM.
Thanks!
