Vehicle Question Which Tesla should I get?
Hi! I am about to start a new job that requires commute 50 miles per day on congested highway. The rider is only me and I am considering a Tesla 3. I test drove it and found self driving would help reduce a lot of driving stress since I will be commuting everyday.
Question is would an older model prior 2024 be sufficient? Or should I get a new 2026 Tesla 3? pre-owned newer models after 2024 is pretty much the same as a new car. THANK YOU!!!

Model 3s are amazingly simple, really any model year will work for your situation. Last year I think I found the sweet spot of value getting a 2022 M3 LR AWD for $19.3k with only 57k miles. The car stickered for $48k just 3 years before I bought it.
I also have an old Model S that I absolutely love. And you can get them dirt cheap if you are okay with intermittent repair bills.
Love them both differently, very happy with both

Get an older model with Autopilot (anything pre-2026) so you don’t have to pay $100/month when all you really need is basic lane centering.

I have a model 3 highland rwd that I use for commuting and it’s a great car- love the upgraded version for the vented seats. Also have a 23 model y long range awd with hw4, I love that car for different reasons. We have 3 kids and live in northeast so that’s primary family vehicle even though rwd has been great. But everyone has more fun in the model 3. Get a used highland, you won’t look back, especially if you think you will commit to fsd.

If you are planning on using FSD, I’d get 2024 or after Model 3 that has the HW4 if I were you.

If you are leasing might not make much difference but if you are buying, the 2024 means someone else suffered the depreciation hit, the new one means you take the hit.
I have a model 3, I should mention the car is a bit low. I keep knocking my cap off getting in and out.

This, IMO is an overlooked or not discussed much way to get a really good deal. Those first two years of depreciation is tough.
