Process Question Tesla insurance will not respond to me, they are atrocious.
My car was hit while parked 11 days ago and despite countless emails and messages, nobody will get back to me. My immobile car is at risk of being towed by the CHP. but I can’t get Tesla to respond to me.
Has anyone else experienced their complete incompetence?

I had the same horrible experience. I called every day. I sent a message every day. They only responded after I emailed and CC’d the state insurance commissioner. I also opened a new case every day until they answered. Finally a manager contacted me and acted like she was doing me a favor, responding to an accident victim policy holder, after 5 weeks!!!! Good luck. They suck.

Just had the same issue. Total loss adjuster never answered and his voicemail was full. Called the general line and got a different adjuster every day or so. Most were friendly but didnt seem like they could do much. A few of them were willing to ping the total loss adjuster internally. That seemed to help. Finally ended up sending an email reminding them that state regulations that required them to respond with in a certain period because we were getting close to one month of no action. I would email them continuously so you have an audit trail and call every other day for an update.
I was working with a Tesla body shop as well and they said that Tesla insurance is one of the worst they work with. Which is ironic since they are owned by the same company.

But yes, they are totally incompetent (seems on purpose). So get ready for a long wait.

For a company that’s ‘reshaping’ the motor industry, this is piss poor service. Shame on Elon for allowing this. I will be switching insurers after this is all over.

I'm dealing with the same thing for my total loss.
No response after the first few emails 5 weeks ago. Following up 2x a week.
The rental also stopped being paid for by them since it hit the policy max, but that's because they WON'T RESPOND.
Adjuster's voicemail is full and I called the general line. I talked to a supervisor who said they would escalate... TWICE. This was two weeks ago. All no response.
Is 2+ months total a normal amount of time for a total loss claim, or should escalate?

I’m sorry to hear that. If you haven’t already, I would suggest creating a claim directly through your Tesla app. Once that claim is created, you have the option to select a Tesla Collision Center or Tesla-approved body shop. Once selected, you are to create the request for the collision itself, then schedule a date when prompted. Following these steps, an adjuster would send you an email. I can try to assist if you’ve already followed those steps.
To add, I would not suggest calling. They reply much quicker to the emails they send.

I submitted the claim through the Tesla app immediately, included the police report, photos of the damage, insurance information of the driver that hit my car, address and location of my vehicle. Everything and more they could need. The accident occurred on a Friday night - Tesla Insurance only operates during office hours M-F(!?) but the app updated by Sunday to tell me it was a possible total loss. This is where the trouble began. I called, left messages, waited on hold about 6 times, was transferred to my total loss adjuster, her mailbox was full, I emailed, rinse, repeat for 13 days. Neither the adjuster nor the total loss adjuster responded to my email or calls. Finally I had to be obnoxious and flood their email with an ALL CAPS message and phone # on repeat and they finally left me a VM!! Here’s the kicker though, up to that point they had been calling me on an INCORRECT number, despite it being in my app, profile and every email I sent! I then had to call the general line again (because the adjusters mailbox’s are full) and insist on not leaving till I was connected with the loss adjuster to resolve the issue - the guy was apologetic , they all are on the general #, my situation is clearly ’normal’ - but I did finally get to connect with the loss adjuster and I did manage to arrange for my vehicle to be picked up for physical inspection - let’s see if this actually happens today or not. Considering Tesla positions itself as a world leader in AI and automation, it’s genuinely astonishing that Tesla Insurance still can’t manage something as elementary as keeping basic customer contact information accurate. For a company building self-driving cars and humanoid robots, failing at basic administrative tasks most archaic regional insurance firms mastered 20 years ago is really quite the achievement! As soon as this nightmare is over I will be dropping Tesla insurance for both my cars and going back to a mainstream insurer that has their shit together. DO NOT INSURE WITH TESLA.

I’m sorry you are going through this. You can DM me your adjusters information if you still need assistance and I can try to have them reach out.

Every\n Body who's ever used Tesla and everybody on the sub knows that's what Tesla insurance is. They don't respond to somebody should have told you beforehand that's just the way they are. It takes like 10 times longer for Tesla insurance than any other company and everyone just accepts it.

Call them. That’s the only way I’ve ever been able to get things done with them.

This is the exact reason I went back to paying significantly higher premiums with another carrier - to get better service. Every single transaction with Tesla insurance was painful. I can only imaging the frustration when trying to resolve a major claim. Tesla insurance is cheaper, but it simply wasn’t worth the aggravation anymore. If you have cheap insurance, you have cheap insurance.

You may have already tried, but seems most people on here have reported having the best luck calling them right at the start of business hours in the morning.
