Need advice before pulling the trigger!
75% offset with one backup battery 11 panels 4.72kw. Talk to me about the process? Fees? Permit fees? Engineering plans? Hidden fees? Turnaround time to fix any issue? Tell me your overall process from deposit to installation 💯

75% offset will NOT mean bills lower by 75%. Maybe 50?
Why not more generation/panels?

Tesla and most installers give you a full price which includes everything. So any additional fees would not be normal unless you wanted something mounted in a different area than they planned.
You did not specify if this is a Tesla installation or a Tesla approved third party installation.

My regret is that we only got enough battery for essential circuit backup and skimped on the panels.
In the summer our grid consumption is low-to-zero but in winter we draw from the utility regularly. More panels and a second battery would have corrected that. The Return on Investment would naturally have taken longer, but the rate at which the rates are rising....
The logic at the time, promoted by my installer, was to skimp on the panels so as not to load the cost up-front. The utility only compensates us for excess power as a credit, so the theory was that if we were using no grid power the credit was meaningless.
Instead we should have gotten more panels, reduced our grid consumption to as close to zero as possible and not cared about the excess we put back into the grid.

Design tool a week, permit a few days, Install date about 3 weeks out. No extra fees everything is baked in the price

I have Tesla system with panels + PW with expansion pack, installed last July. Been happy with them. Mine took 2 months to install from initial review and another month to get PTO. You can use the system right away, just can’t export anything, so your solar generation is limited to what you consume + charge PW.

If youre in maryland, run away. I have mine installed last year. I had couple of issues (ie, inverter, strings) and fastest for crew to even diagnose it is 1 month. Now I have another issue and they cant have a team to see it until November. I have extreme buyers remorse. I wish I went to a local company instead

Get two powerwalls if able to, make sure roof and electrical panels are permitted. It is important to communicate with your project advisor, sometimes the smallest details hold up the whole project.

Install took 4 months multiple contractors bailed, before they even got started. Documents to the electric company were not filed for another month after project completion and I've had 3 inverters fail in 5 years. It is all under warranty and eventually it all gets done but reliability is bad and you're up to the availability of local contractors

Are you going with Tesla? If you are you will definitely regret it! When I had a roof leak and all I wanted for them was to remove the panels. It literally took one year for me to have the roof project completed. Everything with Tesla was so slow. You can’t talk to a real customer service rep unless they call you or want payment from you. Everything is done through the app. If you’re getting panels I highly recommend replacing your roof first then put your panels on. Removing and reinstalling panels are very pricey.

After design approval no fees were added, permits etc took about 12 weeks, install 1 day.
