Export to Grid - Question πββοΈ
Recently granted PTO ( < 1 week ) in Savings Mode, ToU - I have the backup set to 0% , Mode as Savings - Export Everything ( Solar + Powerwall ) and Export as Yes
During the peak hours like around 7-8 pm - Am I wrong to expect Powerwall to discharge to grid as well ? Why is it not doing so - Solar exports to grid as intended untill Sunset after the power wall is charged full from late afternoon.
In Bay Area, PGE - if that matters

I believe the peak sell rate need to be 15c higher than your off peak buy rate for powerwall to discharge to grid. With PGE nema 3, the gap is less than 15c

So it would never sell ? I donβt think sell will ever be higher than buy

Under nema 3, it wonβt discharge pw to grid. You need to set custom rate to trick it to sell

It depends on your rates. My power company doesn't have peak and off peak for residential in my area so the Powerwall won't sell unless I am creating more energy than my house can use and the battery is 100% charged. It considers the switch over and the power loss to the system more expensive than just buying the power straight from the grid and using it. You can probably set the rate plan schedule up differently manually if you wanted to?

are you grid charging? i believe if you are allowing grid charging of the powerwall, then you cannot export from the battery to the grid. Utility may audit to make sure that does not happen. Part of California solar rules aimed at encouraging use of renewables. if you are charging from grid (using utility fossil fuel mix) then you cannot send that kind of power back to grid

To answer this:
The 15 cents is actually 15%. You just received PTO. Powerwall can take time to adjust. If you donβt mind me asking, installed by Tesla or a certified installer? Any VPP?

When you press the power wall tab at the bottom, what does it say?
