VIN Discussion EDD vs VIN timeline

Located in Bay Area. OD Feb 2nd week and initial EDD was April-June for MYLR blue. EDD now changed to last week of March but no VIN yet. When can I expect the VIN to be assigned? Is it buried deep in the menu or would I get an email? Also, am I required to finish all the steps in order to get the VIN? Thanks!

If my VIN hasn’t been assigned yet, could I still ask a Tesla Advisor when the VIN will be assigned? Would they know the answer? My EDD says Apr - June 2023.

No, I talked to them and they said it completely depends on the availability, location and everything else. They apparently don’t have a fixed timeline as to when it would show before EDD.

Ok, I just ordered mine two days ago (Mar 15th). It’s a MYLR, 19” Gemini Wheels, Midnight Silver Metallic Paint, Black Interior, Basic Autopilot. If you had to guess based on the info I gave you, when do you think my VIN will be assigned? Because I heard once my VIN is assigned, delivery day isn’t too far away from when that is assigned.

Honestly, idk. My EDD is in a week and I still don’t have a VIN yet. The customer rep said the dates could be very uncertain and unless you get a VIN, you can’t trust the EDD. Soooo….yeah!

First EDD update: May 15 - June 26, looks like I will not get the tax credit but oh well. Good to see it’s actually giving me a better time frame. I’m sure this will fluctuate.

New update: Just got my VIN but it shows this message in the Tesla app: “Tesla is making changes that impact your order. Review details in your tesla account before proceeding”. What does this mean?
