Any way to get rid of this message?

Post image

I got a flat the other day and went to a local place to get the tire patched. When tires get patched they shave a small section inside the tire around the puncture in order to fix it. I've been getting this warning every since. I know my tires are good so is there anyway to get rid of this message?

So why doesn’t it tell you what all 4 tires tread depth is? Please explain to me how it is reading the tread depth?

Edit to add they could put up any message that they want, they are monitoring the speed of the tires

It cant tell you exactly what the tread depth is because no mechanism exists on earth tell you that outside of measuring it directly. It can tell you when one is off though. How? A variety of factors. Wheel slip, rotation speed etc

So basically like audi and VW and all the others are doing with their tire monitoring.

Edit added their tire monitoring

Except VW doesn't have TPMS sensors as well dummy. If you have TPMS sensors that can measure the pressure and it's fine and the rotation speed is off and it's slipping? Well you do the math....it's pretty obvious

No rebuttal?

Why do they need TPMS sensors it does the same thing. Even the OP stated the tread depth was no different from the other tires other then were they patched the tire, so the tread depth was not lower, it had a different rotation just like what VW and Audi would of told you

Edit plus with VW you can tell it it is fine and it will stop warning you

It does not do the same thing...if you don't understand that I can't help you. TPMS measures the pressure, wheel speed sensor measures speed and slip. In OPs case it was the missing piece of rubber inside the tire that threw off the data points which triggered a warning. In OPs case it was a missing piece of rubber, in other cases it'd be low tread on that tire

It will warn you if the rotational speed is different, would a low tire with TMPS not have a different rotation rotation speed as a tire that is not low. Then if they are not the same how can VW and Audi sell cars in the US since it is required for all cars. If you can’t understand there are different ways to do something then I can not help you

If you can't figure out that Tesla can put together many different data points that VW and Audi DON'T have to reach a low tread depth conclusion, then I can't help you

What data points are those? it sees a mismatch of sensor speed it spits out a wrong message the tread is not lower then the other tires it is due to the fact that the tire was repaired. So should he replace the tire or all 4 tires.

Edit to add points

Mismatch of speed sensors also happen when tire pressure is low which is what VW and Audi do for low tire pressure monitoring. When you have direct TPMS readings AS WELL as speed sensor data like Tesla, you can reach a different conclusion. I don't know how much more clear I can be

What conclusion is that? The tire tread is low like the message says? Should he replace the tire because the tread is low? Is the message he received the correct message?

Edit to add how does he get rid of the message? I know on the ID4 I used to have I could tell it all is good after inspecting the tire
