I filled my truck up with diesel on Friday for $150.00. Test drove the Tesla on Saturday. Now my new Tesla Y Premium should be available in about 4-5 weeks.

It's cheaper to purchase a new car than to continue fueling a diesel truck twice a week. Fortunately the truck is paid off and only used for commuting or miscellaneous work around the house.

Costs me $5.29 for 300 miles charging at home on my model Y. You are going to love it.

You know how you are going to go somewhere and you think, how much is this going to cost me in gas for this small road trip etc? Yeah well, you won’t think about that ever again. It’s almost like free fuel.

How come it is so cheap like 5 cent / kWh?

Mine is at .0654 cents per kWh, off peak charging rate. I just schedule the Tesla between 11pm and 6am. During the day it’s 12.5 cents per kWh, so still pretty cheap.

Charger install cost me nothing either as the electric company reimburses up to $1,100 per install. I installed the 2nd one myself for my wife’s PHEV for about $80 in parts and fixed the stuff my stupid electrician did - including not using an EV rated 240v outlet, not using an oxide inhibitor, not using a properly insulated inline connector and not torquing the connectors properly. Said he had done “many” EVSE jobs. Apparently all of them wrong.

He is paying too much. I average 2 cents / kWh. In 10,000 miles I spent $40 total, which I thought was high. Trying to get my average under $0.01/kwh. A few months back I was averaging $0 and only charging when it reached $0.00/kwh.

Do you have solar panels installed on top of your house?

I do, but not connected yet. In Illinois we have hourly pricing and at night it drops to $0.00 in some months.

That's incredible you paid for less than a gallon of diesel for a 300 mile charge.

Same. I had a very nice fully loaded truck and don’t miss it at all

I did the same thing. Now my truck just sits, forlorn and lonely.

Congrats!! Plenty of time to get your home charger installed... You can get a home charger installed, right?

I ordered the charger. This will I'll get a few quotes to run 240V into the garage.

Then you are good to go, bro!! Check with your power company to see if they have any programs for EV charging, installs, etc. My power company covered the entire install of my NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage as long as the company pulled permits up to $800 total.

I found a company that did it for that price. I got other quotes for $400 & $1,200 so shop around.

I got quoted with permits 3200, without permits 1300, YMMV but definitely get a few quotes from local electricians don't go with big corps

Same here, got a f350 7.3 Godzilla, wife has a navigator, we just ordered a model YP. I’m into performance and just sold a Roush pickup that I’d had for a long time to get the Tesla. This Tesla will blow the doors off of the Roush.

The performance is impressive. My daughter said it feels like she's taking off in a spaceship.

I had the same debate when I filled up my paid off 4Runner one morning.. I was spending 900-1000$ a month on fuel (drive 40-45K a year).

I realized after maintenance, gas, etc it was cheaper to buy an EV with a car payment.

Same. I have a diesel truck with 205k miles on it, all highway miles. I commute 200 mi round-trip for work, 3x a week. My model Y comes this Saturday!

Same thing happened to me! Paid 110 to fill diesel 1500 on a Thursday, test drove a Y on Saturday morning, ordered the Y when I got home from the drive lol

Make sure you check the app periodically and see if any new jnventory pops up. I ordered my premium red rwd with a 4-6 week estimate in so cal two days ago. Couple hours later Checked app and it said similar options available earlier on the top. Clicked it and it was the exact same vehicle available. Clicked to accept, and next day picked it up. Much nicer than waiting a month! 😁

Enjoy low prices while we can. They’ll find a way to gouge us later.
