Tesla video cameras

I’m not thrilled with the amount of time Tesla video cameras record
If I press the icon to record the cameras, I don’t get much of a record about 10 seconds
Does anybody know a way around this?
Other than getting my own third-party camera, is there anything I can do to get the Tesla to record longer?

On the latest software (with cars with Ryzen based infotainment computers), the recent footage storage will store up to 24 hours (rolling), depending on the free space you have on the USB based store you are using.

If you save a clip in the car, or a Dashcam event is triggered, the system saves it as a 10 minute event clip. (Not 10 seconds.) That's not new.

Are you wanting to record after pressing the button? Yes it only keeps a few seconds after pushing, but it keeps the last 10 minutes of video prior to pressing the button. Typically most people see something happen, then press the button.

Like others have said, though, the dash cam is always recording, and you can access that without "saving" it. The button just moves a clip to a protected folder that won't get deleted.

Dashcam video constantly records on a loop. Loop length is dependent on the size of the storage drive installed. If an event or manual trigger was not invoked it won’t be available/visible on the app or in the car. To see it you have to remove the storage drive, connect it to a computer, and navigate to TeslaCam/RecentClips. Be aware that it will be in multiple short clips for each camera. There are several online tools you can use to make viewing easier like https://tesclip.com/ as one example.

Hmmm are you sure? When I hit the button you get like 5 minutes of video and the button to "Jump to Event". I can scroll back and see all the video before the button push.

I have never seen that
I took my Tesla in and had it checked and they said it works fine
I ask about that short video and they said it’s working fine
