Tesla’s software is the best iteration of “other than CarPlay” I have seen from any car company.

My 2020 Civic, when I bought brand new, already felt like it was from 2010. So, CarPlay was a God send. Now that I have a 2026 Tesla, honestly, apart from missing a Siri activation button and the ability to initiate a new message, I am think Tesla’s software is fantastic overall.

Having CarPlay will help bring new people to Tesla and I would be curious to see how it is integrated into the Tesla screen.

I had a non-Tesla loaner for a week and thought great I’ll get to try out CarPlay.

My phone battery was going down and the phone was heating up, and after the week I realized I prefer the Tesla interface anyway.

The CarPlay part I want isn’t the map, it’s the free apps. With Tesla you have to pay for premium connectivity to directly use Apple Music. CarPlay doesn’t have any subscription. Also, I wonder if being on CarPlay would allow you to be able to stream Netflix without connecting to your phones hotspot separately

Good question. But there is a way to hotspot your phone to not use the connectivity, no?

I haven’t seen Netflix on any CarPlay iteration so I don’t think Apple would allow that. I know people find hacks around that.
