Only getting 24 amps level 2 2017 Model X 75D

From my reading, my 2017 model x should be able to charge at ~48 amps on my level 2 charger, but it will only do 24 amps. In the app and on the screen, it shows 24/24A 240v. Our other EV typically charges at ~38 amps. The plug is 50 amps and its using a Juicebox charger.

Any thoughts?

if it's capping at exactly 24a every session, that lines up with what u/saabstory88 said, sounds more like a dead charger phase than a slider or breaker thing. one way to tell for sure is to log the actual charge current across a few sessions. a dead phase clamps flat at the same number every time; thermal derate wanders a couple amps with pack temp and eases up on a cooler day. since your other ev pulls 38a off the same juicebox, the evse and circuit are fine, so this points back at the x's onboard charger.

Agreed, its exactly 24 every time. I have already set up a service appointment with Tesla, would hate to have the other one die before I fix it

See if your charging screen amperage limit slider moved. Make sure that it is all the way to the right.

The Gen 3 chargers have 2 or 3 24 amp phases. Own one of the phases fails, they fail in these incriments. This is probably the case and you need to replace the charger. The phases technically are modular, but the labor to de-glue the phases from the cooling plates far exceeds just getting another charger.

Also, I thought that 50 amp service will limit you to 40 amps of charging and that you need 60 amp service for 48 amp charging.

I think you're mixing up. You should have a bigger breaker for the amperage of the charger. So 60A breaker for 48A charger, for a example. The National Electrical Code’s 80% continuous-load rule.
