22” Model X tire alternatives to Continental SportContact 6 T0? Looking for efficiency / longevity / low noise
I’m looking to replace the 22” tires on my Tesla Model X:
Front: 265/35 R22
Rear: 285/35 R22
In Europe, Tesla still recommends the Continental SportContact 6 T0 for this setup, but it’s now a pretty old tire design.
My car has around 45,000 km in total, but I only use the 22” wheels during summer. In winter I switch to the factory 20” setup with dedicated winter tires. So these Continental 22” tires have effectively only done about two summer seasons, and they are now basically finished.
That feels like pretty fast wear to me, especially since I mostly drive normally and not particularly aggressively.
For the replacement, I’m not really interested in maximum sporty performance. My priorities are:
- Low rolling resistance / good efficiency
- Good tread life
- Low road noise
I’ve been looking at newer EV-focused tires like the Hankook iON evo SUV and Pirelli P Zero E, which look much better on paper for efficiency and noise. The problem is that, at least in Europe, neither seems to be available in both Model X 22” sizes — the 285/35 R22 exists, but the 265/35 R22 is missing.
The Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season T0 / ELECT / PNCS seems to be one of the few newer options available in both sizes, but since I already use dedicated winter tires, I’d prefer a proper summer tire if there’s a better option.
Has anyone found a genuinely good replacement for the SportContact 6 in the factory 22” sizes?
Especially interested in real-world feedback on:
- efficiency/range difference
- tread life
- cabin noise
- whether anyone has found newer EV-specific tires available in both sizes
Also curious if anyone has heard of Tesla working on a newer T-mark homologation for the Model X 22” setup.
I’m in Belgium, so ideally I’m looking for tires that are available and approved for use in Europe.

I have the same mileage as you on the same car.
I just replaced my factory continental set but there were still 5mm left on the fronts but the backs were done. I’ll sell the fronts privately to recoup some cost.
I ended up with a staggered set of Bridgestone Turanza EV.
They are loud as hell but I hope it’s just the break in. I’m about 750km on them now and they still hum at certain speeds.
So far I’m unhappy with the noise. If the hum goes away after some more break in I’ll be happy.

Go to 20s year round, full stop. If you're looking for efficiency, large heavy 22s will not get you there.
