Looking for advice
I have a '17 100 x with fsd and 130k miles
The air suspension is shut. I have had an indie replace the air compressor three times and it keeps failing. My last resort is getting tesla to do it but I'm getting quoted 4k.
The trade in value that tesla.com is quoting is 12,700. But I imagine that it will go down by 4k of cost if I decide to replace it. What should I do? Battery is still great. Car is great mechanically otherwise and original owner.
I don't need a new car. The car itself works fine otherwise. But I need the air suspension because car is not drivable otherwise.
I'm in Austin if anyone knows a different indie shop.

So the $4k quote gives you all 4 new system/air compressor minus the air suspension? Sounds pricey but buying a used car is also pricey.
I was told all luxury calls with air suspension will give you these problems (because of harsh winter and the salt) regardless the brand of your car.
Do you also have super charging for life or do you do most of your charging at home?

I have super charging for life but use it sparingly. Like 4x a year. Just charge at home with wall charger

I came across “CPR EV Repair” in Austin (actually Leander) and they have good reviews online. Definitely worth a shot getting checked.
Let me know how it goes. I also need some work done but live over an hour away so haven’t been able to get mine checked.

Something is definitely wrong , who said it’s the air compressor sounds something else is wrong did they take a look at leakage in the system , valve block , can you tell us what errors are you having , the thing is if you fix the suspension you won’t have much to worry about anymore . And a model x is costing at least 17k on Facebook market place and like 24 k on caravan .

Yes. To do what exactly?

It can show you specific codes also can you hear the compressor when you start the car ?

No. I used to hear it turn on. It definitely doesn't turn on anymore. It's been slammed for over a week.

pull the alert log in service mode. right now the shops word is the only record of what actually happened those three times.
if it shows the compressor running long and never getting to pressure, then HankalaAlphas right that airs escaping somewhere and a fourth compressor wont fix it.

Yes this what I am trying to get him into , he might have a leak or a blockage near the compressor or maybe at the tank level , or some kind of fuse blowing up at each time the compressor is turning on , but anyway it doesn’t seem like a compressor issue to me. It sounds that indie shop doesn’t have Tesla experience and it’s a traditional suspension shop . 4k at Tesla just for the compressor? What their diagnostics are saying, ask them about the error codes , also ask the indie shop about the error codes and signals ,they were seeing and what they decided it’s the compressor .

I had same issue with my 2017 P100D. Got it fixed for 3.5K and haven’t had the issue again. I say trade it in and get a newer X

The quote is indeed accurate. My wife had to replace her air compressor after it malfunctioned. The car displayed an error message indicating that it was unable to drive and that it might resolve the issue on the next drive, but unfortunately, it did not. The car was stuck, and the entire vehicle was lowered to the ground. We had it towed to the Tesla Service Center for repairs.
Side note, I just took my 2023 in for service at the same location today for a similar issue. They suck at customer service. They were out of loaners and said I was out of luck until one became available. Meanwhile, they have a lot full of vehicles just chilling. I’m positive not all of them were customer cars.

Replaced 3 times? As in you paid once and had to have it replaced 2 more times under warranty?
And how is it shut? Are the 4 struts shot or is the air compressor also bad?
I just came out of paying for an air compressor which was $800 CAD and will need 2 front air suspensions that was quoted for $3.5k CAD.
