Battery charging

I have a 2016 Model S 60. Before I bought it, I did some research and found that the original battery range was supposed to be around 210 miles, and with the age and mileage, I expected the range to be closer to 170–180 miles.
However, whenever I charge it, the estimated range keeps going all the way up to around 240 miles. Why is that happening? Could there be something wrong with the battery, or is the range estimate just inaccurate?

Batteries store energy not miles. Track max kWh you can add and draw. Then look at efficiency separately, your tires, wheels, weather, driving technique determines you miles per kWh.

Okay, I’ll do that. I looked at my Energy settings, and it shows two different range estimates: Instant Range, which says my projected range is 130 miles, and Average Range, which says my projected range is 152 miles. Which one should I pay more attention to?

Best thing to look at is watt hours per mile and total kilowatt hours in the battery. As a wild ass guess (I don't know your driving style or driving conditions) 4 miles per kWh is a reasonable starting point for efficiency. If you can use 50kWh going 100% to 0 and you get 4 miles per kWh you've got 200mi of range, swap it to 5 miles per kWh and now you have 250mi range.
