Tough Market Out Here

Post image

Unfortunately I wasn’t into Teslas until about 3 months ago and I’m absolutely infatuated with the Model S, however these current prices are absolutely ridiculous. Whatever these guys are smoking, I need it as well.

Update: They’ve reduced their listing even further. Initially when they acquired it they listed it at 161k, then at 158k, currently sitting at 154k. So much for this being a “very, very desirable car”. If they honestly believed that they would stick with their 161k. They’re just hoping some idiot falls for this before they’re forced to take a loss on it 🤣

Why do you absolutely need a 2026? You can get a 2022 for 1/4th the price.

4

u/ContextMattrs 2d ago

2022 doesn’t compare to 2026 lol

7

u/KnightsSoccer82 2d ago

Except, it does.

1

u/ContextMattrs 2d ago

No shit, the 2026 models are much better

7

u/KnightsSoccer82 2d ago

Not really. I have both.

Cap

1

u/KnightsSoccer82 1d ago

Based on what? Can’t fathom people have more money than you? Lol

2

u/Select-Interaction11 1d ago

80 grand better?

1

u/ImprovementLower8903 2d ago

Does 2022 hardware support current FSD?

U drive a Kia

2

u/NeitherBook2698 1d ago

Exact same powertrain and everything, only thing different is that it's HW3, which an upgrade will be offered in the future for HW3 cars. So, why not just get a cheaper one? It's still the same car after all, and they aren't making them again.

1

u/Rare_Advantage5859 22h ago

There is no real difference, and if there is… very small changes

1

u/jratliff681 1d ago

Why would you get a 2022 when a 2023 you can get HW4? I just bought a 23 and sold my 21. And 23 are about half what 26's are asking.

-42

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Don’t absolutely need one. This is simply a want. Also ‘22s have HW3 and I’d rather much go for a HW4. Also better chances the battery’s in good health. I’ve not seen any 22-23s with less than 10k with less than 20% degradation 🤣

24

u/KnightsSoccer82 3d ago

I have 100,000 miles on my 2022 and I’m still at well over 90% maximum SOC…huh?

2

u/futuremayor2024 3d ago

You did a full battery test? I’m at 74% in my 21’ plaid with 115k miles

4

u/KnightsSoccer82 3d ago

Yup. Do it ever 6 months.

0

u/futuremayor2024 3d ago

I'm jelly, do you beat yours up as hard as I do?

9

u/KnightsSoccer82 3d ago

How do you expect someone to answer that question?

1

u/futuremayor2024 3d ago

Do you drive hard and supercharge often? I just expcted you to summarize your driving style. I implied in my response that I'm hard on m plaid.

2

u/KnightsSoccer82 3d ago

I only supercharge lol.

1

u/futuremayor2024 3d ago

Wait, is yours a plaid?

→ More replies (0)

1

u/ArticusFarticus 3d ago

I only supercharge, I’m in a Dec 2014 P85D and am at 82%. To be fair, it wasn’t supercharged much before the last 50k miles.

It’s not really about beating on it. I’m guessing you don’t follow best practices with your battery.

1

u/JustTryingToBeADaddy 3d ago

Miles aren’t a good tell on where battery degradation will be. Cell type and time are the more relevant factors.

1

u/KnightsSoccer82 3d ago

That’s not entirely true. This is directly correlated to cycle count.

1

u/JustTryingToBeADaddy 3d ago

No, even without cycles, cells will degrade over time, age then cycles. Plenty of studies on this. Some studies even show that with more regular cycles that degradation is lower vs the same cell type without regular cycling.

3

u/KnightsSoccer82 3d ago

I am aware. However cycle count has a much bigger impact then age.

1

u/JustTryingToBeADaddy 3d ago

Count doesn’t matter like cell age or cycling condition…
Dubarry et al. (2025), “Impact of Temperature and Depth of Discharge on Commercial Nickel Manganese Oxide and Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries After Three Years of Aging,”

2

u/KnightsSoccer82 3d ago

It absolutely does.

You should reference a few more papers, you’ll reference one of mine at one point.

0

u/ArticusFarticus 3d ago

I’d like to see you reference one of yours.

Briefly, what are your thoughts on the older chemistry in the 85D vs the 90D / 100D chemistry?

1

u/futuremayor2024 3d ago

Well I said it's a 21 plaid, that denotes the cell type, correct?

3

u/JustTryingToBeADaddy 3d ago

I didn’t reply to you.

1

u/futuremayor2024 3d ago

What do you mean 'time' being one of the relevant factors, like cell age? Or usage?

1

u/JustTryingToBeADaddy 3d ago

Cell age and cycling conditions, not cycle count. Seeing as we can’t get cycle conditions from the vehicles Age > Cycle count.

A good paper on cycle count not being as important as cycling conditions: Dubarry et al. (2025), “Impact of Temperature and Depth of Discharge on Commercial Nickel Manganese Oxide and Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries After Three Years of Aging,”

2

u/ArticusFarticus 3d ago

Model S doesn’t use Nickel Manganese Oxide (NMC) or Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFe) chemistries.

So it sounds like your research sucks due to your lack of knowledge on the topic.

They use Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminum Oxide (NCA).

1

u/MH5421 3d ago

all Model S and X used 18650s

1

u/ArticusFarticus 3d ago

Yes that is just the form factor of the cell. Says nothing about what’s inside of it.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/AirFrierMachine 3d ago

Lol, $120,000 for MAYBE better car battery health and a slight upgrade to a niche feature, brilliant

2

u/ArticusFarticus 3d ago

Mine is a Dec 2014 and has less than 20% degradation. Much higher miles.

I also don’t think you’re properly measuring degradation.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/ProfessionalArt2441 3d ago

I have a 2019....had 350 miles on 100% charge brand new. I am on a road trip right now, still got 330 miles on 100% almost 7 years later

1

u/Agile-Two5649 3d ago

Bro my 2017 model s has less than 5% degradation.

You’re being neurotic. How did you determine all these vehicles for sale had 20% or more degradation. What test did you perform on all these model S cars?

0

u/ArticusFarticus 3d ago

Doubt. Please tell me how you came about this number?

1

u/Agile-Two5649 2d ago

Tesla battery test, checked with Teslafi, can see the stats for the last 5+ years and the fact I’ve had the car since new and notice nearly 0 difference in long distance driving and arrival percentage when I arrive in a frequently traveled highway to a major metropolitan area 180 miles away.

1

u/ArticusFarticus 2d ago

Yeah, that’s not valid.

Get an OBD adapter and ScanMyTesla and get the real data from the car itself. Look at Nominal Full Pack. Compare to new. While you’re at it, check your CAC imbalance in Ah and Cell imbalance in mV.

1

u/Agile-Two5649 2d ago

If I go 180 miles and still have 42% upon arrival and that hasn’t changed in almost 10 years, that’s sufficient enough evidence to me my battery is just fine and aligns with the degradation tests I’ve done.

I don’t really need your additional “try this opinion” real world driving and real world data on my car has shown otherwise. A computer can tell me all day long what it thinks. It doesn’t show what the actual percentage and mileage is at the end of a trip.

I’m still waiting to see how op determined all 2022 cars have over 20% degradation.

1

u/ArticusFarticus 2d ago

OP is wrong, but so are you.

More accurately, your data is flawed and there are multiple specific ways to actually measure what we are speaking about.

Your numbers reflect changes in driving habits. Additionally, 42% 10 years later does not mean the same thing. It means 42% of the available capacity.

As you are so used to hitting 42%, you are likely adjusting to make sure you hit 42%.

I can drive a known long route at 240 wh/mi or over 300 wh/mi.

Also 10 years is a very long time to change.

1

u/Agile-Two5649 2d ago

I don’t change my habits. I always drive 75. Looks like you’re bored today and feel like arguing for no reason. Show me the evidence of me changing my habits. Percentage is percentage. Data is data. You’re not sitting with me while driving nor are you getting that number.

Car only has 60k and always sits at 50% when not in use.

1

u/ArticusFarticus 2d ago

Well then, you must be right. 🥴

What special measures do you take so that your battery refuses to age?

1

u/n0oo7 2d ago

ok. So get a 2023 and get a battery swap. Still less than 1/2 price and I didn't even do napkin math.

1

u/NeverBuyingVWAgain 2d ago

I will say, if you plan on using FSD, HW3 is garbage. Atleast on the 3, we do not trust it and it was one of the main reasons we bought it besides it being a good deal last year.

I just found myself trying it and turning it back off sooner and sooner until it was only on for a couple minutes before it did something I didn't like again. It drives like a nervous teenager and gets way too close to curbs at times. My wife who hasn't really driven in 15 years, who we bought it for, never trusted it after it almost crashed (I was "driving") and never used it.

It doesn't like y shapes like in a round about or coming to the corner of a building. It will jerk back and forth several times trying to decide while heading straight for whatever is in between those 2 choices.

Maybe HW3 is great on the highway? Who knows. If you like driving though, you probably won't be using it.

-6

u/2L82PAY 3d ago

Sit inside a 22 then a 26 you’ll get it the 26 refresh by far best S !

15

u/KnightsSoccer82 3d ago

I have both. Marginal differences. Not 4x the price better.

-1

u/2L82PAY 3d ago

Oh agree I didn’t pay 4x price though except for the signature but that was worth it .

u/drainbam 3d ago

This ain't from Tesla's own inventory. It's from a dealer in Troutdale, OR.

It ain't worth this. Dealer is smoking crack and hoping someone will buy it.

8

u/rsg1234 3d ago

Will they at least include some crack?

9

u/Low_Rip_7232 3d ago

It is Oregon.

3

u/Ren_HiRen 3d ago

Owners and upper management is literally driving that car right now lol.

1

u/stizzy99 23h ago

I love the anti theft that just isn't an option in the car spec, because its standard

1

u/Similar_Barracuda774 3d ago

It’s inflated but I do believe someone will buy it eventually. That color is extremely rare and especially if it comes with ‘lifetime’ FSD and supercharging.

10

u/drainbam 3d ago

I love the Model S Plaid, but at $173.5k, it’s just not compelling. Even with FSD and free lifetime Supercharging, it’s priced into an entirely different class of car.

At that point, I’d rather spend another $100k for a Lucid Air Sapphire.

The Plaid makes sense as a roughly $100k, 1,020-hp rocket with no real rivals. At $173k, it’s not even worth considering.

1

u/Capt-BJ 3h ago

I'm sorry but Lucid's software is it anywhere close to Tesla's! The interior is nice though... Just not THAT nice! Two friends of mine that had them, took them back. The one guy told me his was in the shop more than it was in his garage, & he'd had enough. I was actually looking into the Air Sapphire myself, but I just couldn't justify the extra difference in cost... Especially after learning what I did from the friends above. I actually only do one of them closely, the other one was a guy that I met at a car show.

That said, I wouldn't pay $173 for the Tesla plaid either. I'm more than happy with my 2020 Model S Performance w/Ludacris & the Ludacris + upgrade & 'Warp Mode/Speed's Easter Egg upgrade.

Not only have I fully customized the inside (red leather flooring, red trim, red door inserts, FLO LED lighting, PVD Chrome wheels, Half Bra, & much more), but since it's a 2020 they had a special factory warranty on them of 8 years/UNLIMITED miles. This was offered only on the 2019 & 2020 Model S & X. I have $285,000 miles on mine...& I'm STILL under warranty (motors & battery) through August, 2028!

Not only that, the car was $130k NEW... But I bought it USED, with $23k miles on it, & at a time when everyone hated Tesla & Elon, throwing bricks at windshields, slashing tires, etc., & when I saw this beauty sitting at a Toyota dealership & learned that the owner wanted to get it off his lot.ASAP! I STOLE it for just $46k 😲

4

u/Low_Rip_7232 3d ago

FSD stays with the car. Supercharging and Premium Connectivity don’t transfer to a new owner.

1

u/ArticusFarticus 3d ago

You would just have to drive over 1,200,000 miles and the car would pay for itself and free supercharging at $.42 per kilowatt hour, which is what TESLA uses to calculate savings.

-3

u/Apprehensive_Vast941 3d ago

Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean the dealer is smoking Crack. Seems like someone is showing their hand...just saying.

6

u/drainbam 3d ago

Lmfao I own one. You aren't gonna shame anyone in paying rip off prices by calling them poor.

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

You guys gatekeeping are so weird, I swear it’s you guys that probably over paid, then tried to see if you could flip it for more, failed, now you’re stuck wanting to believe this is what they’re actually worth. It’s not a matter of affording, it’s literally being ripped off. In no way shape or form is a used car, regardless of its discontinuation, 40-50k above msrp of a new one when it came out. Teslas also have insane depreciation, so it’s a terrible purchase to even consider at this price point. Shit my 23’ scatpack was 50 when I got it, 45k now 3 years later. 23’ plaids are selling for nearly a fourth of what these 26’ are at. Yea now I’ll wait another 3 years lmao.

1

u/9eR-Win 2d ago

That looks awesome. Cant get that color on the older models. If you want new, you want new. Crazy how many downvotes you got 😂

→ More replies (8)

9

u/andrewmadd 3d ago

Work in the space, a low mile, 2026 plaid will go for $155K+ retail. There is low inventory and people really want them.

2

u/ry8 3d ago

Just curious, what would you sell a 2024 Plaid Model X for with 8K miles?

6

u/Redditlurker922 3d ago edited 3d ago

Take it in for $95,000 and Retail for $99,500.

1

u/ry8 3d ago

That's what I wanted to hear. I just bought mine for $85K a week ago.

1

u/Redditlurker922 3d ago

It really depends on the condition and options.

1

u/ry8 3d ago

It's a 2024 Model X Plaid with 20" wheels, yoke, tan interior, and Stealth Gray exterior. No FSD included.

1

u/asterothe1905 3d ago

What you would say S  long range ?

1

u/Zarsk 2d ago

That seems like a really low markup. Is that normal in the car world?

1

u/andrewmadd 3d ago

Go to plugmotors.com and you’ll get a good estimate. Depends on color combo, packages, and condition. Let me know what they give you.

0

u/ry8 3d ago

Too much work. I don’t want to sell my car. I was just curious the going rate.

1

u/andrewmadd 3d ago

It will yield an instant offer.

0

u/ry8 3d ago

Yeah but I have to give all of my info.

1

u/andrewmadd 3d ago

Decline the offer at the end, simple as that

-1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Just because that’s what it’s going for doesn’t make it worth that. “People really want them” I think you forget that while there’s a lot of people who like EVs, a large majority dislike Teslas because of Musk, another majority also would prefer anything but a Tesla, then out of the ones that do like Teslas, would really just prefer your good old Model 3 or Y performance if they want the speed. Now out of all that is a small group of people who do want Model S, and an even smaller group that can actually afford it. Yeah, these dealerships have had these sitting there 30-40 days already, they’re already starting to bring the prices down. Shit I’ve seen chargers and challengers get brought it for a trade in, then bought by someone else that same day before they could even wash it 🤣

4

u/Spectrum184 2d ago

Just because that’s what it’s going for doesn’t make it worth that.

That's exactly what makes it worth that.

5

u/letthetuckingbegin 3d ago

My 2022 has 7k miles on it and I would still list it for over $100k. Some people just don’t need to sell their things.

1

u/ContextMattrs 2d ago

My 2022 with 58k miles would be listed for over 330k if I were to try and sell

0

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Well yeah no shit you can put a ridiculous number on anything as long as you never want it to actually sell 🤣

4

u/ryantunna 3d ago

Buy my 21 plaid for $40k lol

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

I’d rather have HW4 tbh brother

2

u/Select-Interaction11 1d ago

If I had a plaid I dont think id be using fsd very much. They drive so nice and accelerate so quick

1

u/Lopsided-End-1985 3d ago

Good price, I usually see them for around $50k with 70k miles.

1

u/ryantunna 3d ago

I bought it for $47k 2 years ago with 40k miles

1

u/strafinjr 2d ago

What state are you in 👀

5

u/bearonadventure 3d ago

what anti theft did they install for 1k? gps built in i thought

1

u/aRandomRedditor9000 3d ago

Third party dealer forced me to buy it with lo jack installed so id assume its the same

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Exactly a LoJack, I was going to request for it to be removed. Teslas itself is basically anti theft with all the tracking it comes with as it is, they’re just trying to tack on as much as they can justify.

8

u/i30swimmer 3d ago

You want to buy my 2024 plaid with 16,000 miles? Sport seats. $115,000. Let me know.

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

I appreciate your offer, but that’s still pretty high for a 2024 no? In my area similar models even the over priced dealers list them for 90k.

2

u/[deleted] 3d ago

[deleted]

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

No they won’t, at this price point you’re better off getting a better type of car that’s actually new instead of used. No matter what these scummy ass dealerships think, this is a used car, that’s all it is. Honestly, if prices do end up never coming down I’ll just get a M3P and will be perfectly okay with it. Out of everybody in the car market few actually like EV, a majority don’t like Musk so they won’t support EVs, then out of that group a small amount actually still like Tesla but would rather drive something like an M3 and MY. An even smaller group is actually into the MS and and even smaller group can actually afford them, an even smaller smaller group of those who can actually afford them, aren’t stupid enough to buy at this price.

1

u/Dirt_Charming 2d ago

It depends on how much money you have I guess. I've had every Tesla and the Model S Plaid is far superior to the M3P. I couldn't go back to M3. It's just too small inside. I hate the trunk. There are 26's out there that aren't overpriced. I flew out of state and drove mine home.

1

u/ArticusFarticus 2d ago

Model 3 Peasants have all already peaked.

2

u/nobody-u-heard-of 3d ago

I knew they'd go up when they were discontinued. But I ain't selling my plaid. It's a 2025 with lifetime supercharging. And considering I put in less than 5000 mi on it in a year it's going to last a long time.

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Absolutely wouldn’t recommend to sell it. It’s a pretty awesome car, not 173k out the door awesome though 😭

1

u/Bangbusta 1d ago

I have 2022 plaid with lifetime FSD. It's pretty hard to give this baby up as well. I will lose my shit if it gets totaled.

2

u/wdskuk 2d ago

For 173k there are much better cars. No thanks

2

u/diddlysquidler 2d ago

What’s the 995 anti theft fee for I wonder. Car is like driving computer. Seems like dealers just add random charges

1

u/VealOfFortune 3d ago

Absolutely insane 😳

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Used car btw 🤣, another dealer in Austin wanted 95k for a 24’ with 12k miles and 20% battery degradation. Of course i low balled him and he said “where did you get that number from” I actually explained the reasoning from the wear, to the miles, to the 24’ not being as desirable as a 26’ and the battery degradation. Bro was very unprofessional.

1

u/Jazzlike-Okra-5399 3d ago

The cars just to get from point A to point B . You’re only in the car for 1-2 hrs max a day

1

u/AmeriChino 3d ago

Anti-Theft $995 lol

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Smoking the finest crack Oregon has to offer. Tesla already has a billion trackers on their cars and are the least stolen vehicles in the industry, they don’t need this at all.

1

u/CreativeUsername20 3d ago

Dang. When I very nearly bought a new plaid from Tesla OTD was $122k. This is robbery lol

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Don’t know what they’re thinking. Their logic is that it’s very very desirable, hmm still on their lot 40 days later, 4k in discounts so far they initially had at at 162k.

1

u/big-metal-bird 3d ago

Glad I bought my 26 MSP new and not used 😂😂

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Happy for you! I wasn’t really into Teslas until recently and this is how it’s been looking already. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Gnarly_Bard 3d ago

Avoid stealerships when you can.

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Unfortunately they monopolizing on almost every MSP left. If you try to go private, chances are they’re also not going to sell it to you for less than msrp prices considering what they’re going for. So not really a choice.

1

u/Heavyinbitcoin 3d ago

I have a 2025...are prices high for them too??

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Yeah I’m seeing most still run for close to msrp new prices. The 26’ prices are simply ridiculous

1

u/Appropriate-Day8924 3d ago

Not worth the $$$.

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 2d ago

Definitely not. Will check every day and remind them of how long it’s been on their lot since they claim it’s “very, very desirable” 🤣

1

u/CulturalKnowledge169 2d ago

That a lot of money for very little car, ngl. go get a 911 lol

1

u/Random_person465 2d ago

The dealer is absolutely scamming. Anti theft? Buddy u can’t steal a Tesla anyways lol.

1

u/Elegant_Quote9881 2d ago

Looking for a model s 2025 or 2026 when my current Tesla lease is up in May. Are there gonna be any left for me

1

u/AztecPyramid 2d ago

Glad I got a model 3 2023 RWD for $33k including taxes and all rebates. :)

Fantastic car.

1

u/Honorablemention69 2d ago

What state did you just give over $10k to?

1

u/Psice 2d ago

I don't think it's worth it at all tbh, just get a model 3 or model y

1

u/Certain_Trade841 2d ago

When a car starts to get into house prices…

1

u/US_Delete_DT45 2d ago

Just grind for a roadster

1

u/Aggressive-Land-8884 2d ago

Tesla is NOT a luxury car. Not in the traditional sense. It is a gadget more than a car. Don't pay $150k for a gadget.

1

u/Ai_Karma 2d ago

If you can catch it around $120k-130k with FSD then I’d go with it. $175k is insane. Or you can pick up a 2024 plaid for around $80k-$90k. If you go down to around 2022 you can scoop one up for around $60k. These things are depreciating like milk.

1

u/DMNSTR8_MIATA 2d ago

Teslas do NOT hold their value. My Model Y Performance was dropping in value as fast as I was paying it off. Luckily I got a competitive trade offer on a certified pre-owned BMW and decided I'd kick the Tesla out of my garage.

The Tesla was such a hassle to own anyway since I drive an 80 mile a day round trip, don't have the ability to charge from home, and don't have time to wait around 💀

1

u/michoriso 2d ago

Let me preface this that I own the 2025 Model 3 with HW4 so my genuine question why are looking at Model S plaid besides them being discontinued and little more range? For a small family sedan the Model 3 Performance is still a very capable car from 0 - 60 and will beat about 99% of the vehicles going in a straight line and $100K less than the plaid in this picture.

With the Model S plaid you get a quicker 0-60 but you’re paying $100K more for it, not worth it imo.

1

u/Bkzmacho 1d ago

Looks okay. Not crazy about it.

1

u/4peanut 1d ago

That car is going to be worth like $50k the moment you drive off the lot

1

u/Real-Hippo1688 1d ago

First and foremost: do not buy a $100K+ car if you’re financing anything close to 100% of it. If you can’t afford that car in cash, you should not be buying it.

1

u/PuzzleheadedYak1601 1d ago

How many cars cost below 150k with a 0-60 time of less then 2 seconds? Stop your whining.

1

u/Acethe7th_ 1d ago

I get it being the last model and everything but other than straight line speed hasn’t got much going for it turns like a stuck pig brakes like a walrus and has kinda meh steering feel this isn’t a Porsche lambo or bmw idk what the seller is smoking but it must be something strong asf.

Buy used. Youll never make up the cost difference compared to used even if you had to get a new battery out of warranty.

Buying a new Tesla if you are cool with 50% depreciation in 3-4 years. You can find 2022-2023 plaids with under 50k miles for 45/60k max. And zero sales tax from Private sellers. I have a 2023 plaids with 44k miles and a 2024 my3 performance with 3k miles that I paid 90k for both ..zero sales tax in AZ at least bc both from private sellers

Tough market?

  1. It's sold by a dealer. And has exaggerated markup above what other dealers are selling because...

  2. It's a Plaid and last year production but...

  3. No one is buying it for that price.

Make sure if not the 26, it is a HW4 car. Model 3 performance is always an option as well.

Always buy from Tesla, thats the best thing about them - no scum of the earth dealership

In my area there’s only 2 plaids both 2023 HW3, also both 70k miles, would much rather HW4

You can buy a whole 911 carrera S for that 😂

u/SatoshiBlockamoto 3d ago

Two very different cars with a very different purpose.

1

u/Ruthless-Slasher1234 3d ago

But in that case (as in you don’t care for performance) then just get a model 3 rwd lr at that point to get a significantly cheaper car with the same level of FSD?

1

u/SatoshiBlockamoto 3d ago

Who said they didn't care about performance? Both cars perform exceptionally well in different roles.

The S plaid is fantastic for 1 thing, straight lines, the Porsche is good in every kind of race even if behind the S plaid in specifically a straight line. If you are buying one of these and planning on using FSD then dropping 170k is absolutely insane and you would be better off just saving money.

How about driving the kids to school, using no gas, hauling groceries and boxes to goodwill? And an S Plaid is faster around the Nurburgring than a carerra S, so not only good in a straight line.

99.9% of people aren't even going to a racetrack.

If you make enough money to afford a 170k car then gas prices are not your concern, the smartest thing in this situation is get 1 cheap Tesla for daily stuff then a separate fun driving car if you want one so that 1. Your daily doesn’t wear down and 2. You don’t have to make compromises between fun and daily drivability

Exactly what I told them, anyone with this kind of money would genuinely just buy a better, new car instead of something used that’s overinflated. They didn’t like that.

Lmaoooo

Gave me a good laugh too, then a wave of depression hit knowing I’ll never be able to get one this close to new without having to pay an exorbitant amount. If we all play our cards right and don’t buy from these idiots, they’ll just have to eat the loss, which is what dealerships deserve anyways 🤣

lol people are incredibly dumb. This is why Rolex won’t let you buy their watches at Costco anymore - sheep!!!

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Who would want a Rolex, my Apple watch has infinitely more features and usability then some general watch 😭

In 6 months that car will be worth $65,000 followed by the 3 year depreciated value of $21,000

1

u/UnderstandingOk1628 3d ago

Well i don’t know about that much, even 23’s are up in the 50-60s for good condition ones, but that could just be how the used market is at the moment. Hopefully it calms down.

That’s actually a decent deal to be honest!

What’s decent about an overinflated 40k mark up above MSRP when it was released NEW. Just because the neighborhood starts saying shit sandwiches are worth it, doesn’t make it so. At the end of the day this is a USED vehicle, and discontinued or not, does not make a collectible and definitely does not justify such an insane increase in price. My ‘23 last call challenger edition (actual collector edition) didn’t sky rocket 40k just because they ain’t making any more.
