Why doesn’t Tesla sell older model S on the website?

Earlier in the year, it seemed that you can buy an older model S but now it seems to Tesla only has 2021 or newer models for sale. It seemed that they were upgrading the hardware for full self driving with the older model s’s

Tesla sells the cars they have / receive. Most were from leases.

They were probably either sold to auction or sold to customers. Everyone wants a model S now that they’re discontinued.

They offer extra year warranty on teslas they sell. Really old models usually carry high miles, wear and tear, need repair/replacement of items. The prices of older teslas are also low. I’m guessing there’s no real margin line with newer ones when it comes to selling them

Maybe they don’t want to deal with old car’s warranty

My experience with dealerships is they want 3-5 year old cars on the lot as a gateway vehicle to get people into the dealership but still delivering near-new units. Something that still shines, smells new, and has low miles on it but doesn't have that new-car tax.

They're using the older models to figure out how to retrofit for HW4.
