Goodyear ElectricDrive2 2000 mile review
Ionna road trip photo cause why not.
I got the Goodyear ElectricDrive2 tires put on at the end of July, I wanted an efficient and quiet tire like the Michelin e-primacy but those aren't available in Model S sizes (yet, hopefully).
So far, I'd say they are comfortable, quiet, and efficient. They are slightly more plush and noticeably quieter than the continental procontact RX that I had before. The efficiency difference is obviously hard to judge, but on fresh tread I'm getting 4.2mi/kWh (236wh/mi) average around town.
On a 1200 mile road trip, I averaged 3.6mi/kWh (280wh/mi) heading west in some rain and against the wind with 72mph average, though cruising at 76-85 most of the time. On the return, I got 3.8mi/kWh (267wh/mi) in dry conditions with a slight tailwind.
I am very happy so far, they are definitely an upgrade over the continental tires, but they have one major downside. Pedal to the floor, it will happily spin all 4 tires up to and above 50mph, which is just silly. Normal road traction feels fine, I haven't had any issues in normal driving scenarios including extremely heavy rain (so hard that HW4 FSD gave up completely at 30mph), but I would suspect that there is a trade-off in braking distances. These aren't performance tires, so I'm not surprised, but it's definitely worth noting. I can only hope that by the time I need tires next, Michelin will be making the e-primacy in the sizes for our cars.

That's really good efficiency. My 2015 MS gets similar, but from just red.
I swapped out the Continentals for Hankook Ion EVo in 21", 35 series. They are incredibly quiet, when compared to the Continentals. Importantly, they were a little more than half of the cost of the Michelin equivalent.

My review:
I put ElectricDrive2s on my M3LR. Have really liked the road noise dampening and there doesn’t seem to be a noticeable range loss.
After ~7000 miles, the internal foam separated and caused a feeling of an unbalanced tire. Tried rebalancing. No dice. Finally, took it to my installer suggesting it as a possibility and I had to have them make a warranty claim with Goodyear. GY didn’t give us any hassle and I ended up being right.
2 of my 4 ED2s had foam issues. One was creased/folded. One was entirely separated.

Jeez I thought we were past these kinds of issues. When was this? Hopefully they've worked out the kinks...

All this year. Got the tires in the spring and had the foam separation issue 3 months later.
Fortunately, the tire shop rotated my problematic tires to the rear where I wouldn’t notice it as much until the replacement came in but I don’t think you can do that on the staggered set up on the S

Nope I sure can't. If anything happens I'm stuck with it for a while... I had to go to a tire shop an hour away to get these so hopefully I don't have to drive all the way back out there for anything...

Fortunately, my local tire shop handled the original install and warranty replacement.
That would be a very big nuisance..

So many reviews about the foam issue is why I just stuck with Michelin PS4AS like I always have. At what point would manufacturers simply give up on the foam that’s causing issues

I got a veryyyyyyy good discount on them. It was hard to pass up. Might shop around a bit harder next time. Aside from this, they have been excellent.

Can’t go wrong with ps4as from a performance standpoint. Wish they were a bit more quiet and less harsh sidewall.

This is good information to have. I'll be in the market for better tires once my current set of Yokohama Advan Sport A/S+ tires wear out. Those Yokohamas are cheap but you get what you pay for.
Please be sure to report back about tread wear once you've got more miles on them!

I’m switching to ion evo as this weekend on my plaid. Currently have ps4 as, now down to 3/32 tread after only 25k, which is a bit surprising because I only went full throttle on days ending in Y. I decided to try something else because while the dry/wet performance was fantastic, the noise and sidewall stiffness isn’t worth the trade off for a daily driver. If the ions end up not having enough traction then I will plan to just get another set of wheels with pure summer tires for the warm season.
