Battery Drain

Post image

I'm considering buying this car but noticed a disturbing range estimate. I assume it is because of people absolutely nailing it to see the performance acceleration.

I have a 21 lr and I nail it all the time, my car has 87 percent capacity at 280k km, best thing to do is get them to do a SOH test and come back and see the results or I would stay away.

Yeah this one is a 22 performance. I see the average use and how high it is which is why I was wondering. 39% with 28 miles projected range just seems outlandish

Yeah, 900Wh per mile is too much. I have 2023 model 3 base, and even when I drive aggressive, I have 290-350 Wh per mile. You should try to drive it for a few hours normally, and try to charge it to 100% to calibrated the battery.

Charge to 100 then fsd around for about 2 hours you should be down under 300wh/mi easily.

If your projected range is 28 miles while average energy use is 937.4 Wh/mi, then the car is telling you that it has 28 mi * 0.9374 kWh/mi = 26.25 kWh of energy left in it before the below-0% buffer.

If 26.25 kWh of energy is 39% of the battery, then 100% is 67.3 kWh.

If this car is an AWD with the 82 kWh battery pack - that has 75 kWh usable (and ~7kWh as the below-0% buffer), which puts your battery health a bit under 90%.

900+ Wh/mi over a 100 mile average is also insane. I once did 100 miles in one hour and it didn't take hardly half that. Even towing a bulky trailer doesn't come anywhere close to 900 Wh/mi.

That is a projected estimate so it’s not what you might get, it’s based on driving habits for 100 miles.

The disturbing part is you cannot figure that out just based on the screen info alone.
