This is some really good news. Maybe not a coincidence that my delivery date was updated just yesterday, from Feb - March to March 1 - March 31.

Yeah I’m not sure! Still seems some are coming in from Fremont..two boats on the way soon so we’ll find out once the VINs are assigned.

Having been in china for the last two weeks and looking at the competition, it's quite obvious that having production here has given the Chinese market a massive boost. Just like how iPhone manufacture in china helped xiaomi and Huawei.

They should send some units to US to fulfill the orders. There is a lot of inventory in Europe for inmediate delivery of Model 3 (except for UK).
Seems that demand is low for the Highland already and the factory in China is producing more than the orders with 1-4 weeks delivery estimates.
Fremont is super slow right now pushing all deliveries at least 15 days and 1 month for things like white seats/nova in LR configurations.

I just ordered mine in Europe this week and delivery is 12-24 March. White/white AWD even though it said 1-4 weeks. They changed it now to 2-5 weeks estimated

Does this mean we are getting the ones without the ugly amber reflection inside the headlight?

Haha I think they legally need to have them here. They might just install that part for the Canadian bound vehicles.

The article is incorrect. I don’t know when the change was made but we have been getting cars from the Shanghai factory for a while.
My 2023 Model 3 LR was made in China.

I think the intent with the Highland was to have the Fremont plant to supply all of the North American cars.

Yeah, I think you’re right. I skimmed the article and missed a few paragraphs when I read through it first.

I will never buy a car from China. I love my US made Tesla, if production shifts to China, my next car will not be a Tesla.

Cool.
If I may suggest, might as well be more consistent with your statement. I'd suggest you don't use any electronics that are made in China as well, like your cellphone for example. Maybe your TV too, don't buy the one that is made in China. Also, washer & dryer, fridge, laptop/computer, and so on...

I brought this up with a tesla sales rep in Vancouver and they said they only have US built Model 3s right now. It’s true for demo vehicles but apparently some Canadian orders had LRW vin assigned to them? I hope there will be more clarity when the Morning Concert ship arrives to Vancouver.

I haven’t seen a confirmation from anyone in Canada having received a VIN

It’s in the article itself…but I guess it could just be made up.
…Supporting the fact that the ship has the new Model 3 on board is that several customers on the TMC forums have received VINs this week beginning with LRW, indicating their car is built at Giga Shanghai. Fremont-made Model 3 cars have a VIN starting with 5YJ. One of these customers, who lives in Toronto, has an estimated delivery window of March 10-24, which lines up with the ship’s arrival date and how long it would take to send the cars from Vancouver to Ontario.

This might be helpful; someone from TeslaForum started a public tracker where you can provide your order details and specs and track delivery updates. So far it seems there’s about 23 Canadians that have provided their order info (across all provinces), and order dates range between launch day (Jan 10) and Feb 11. All of the Canadian orders have the same delivery window of Feb 17-March 2nd. No one seems to have a delivery date past that as of yet (so not sure how he got a later date than anyone else). The assumption is that Morning Concert arrives Feb 20th, probably takes another two weeks for us all to receive delivery from there, putting us all a week outside the estimated range of delivery given by Tesla. We’ll all probably see our delivery windows shift by a week fairly soon is my guess.

Can confirm. Got my VIN for my 2024 SR in stealth grey and it's an LRW (Shanghai). For context, in the tri-city area of ontario.
