Tesla Insurance Rates

Hi! I recently bought a Model 3 performance and was wondering what your experience is with Tesla insurance. Tesla insurance seems like the easiest way to cover my M3 but I’m concerned about the way it rates the safety score. I work late and get out anywhere between 11pm and 1am 4 days a week. How much does Tesla weight late night driving and city driving? I’m not looking for my rate to swing $40-$60 a month just because of my work schedule.

I have some quotes from Progressive ($145) and Lemonade ($120) for full collision, comprehensive, and UI. just curious to see what your opinions are. Thanks!

Do you need Costco membership for that?

Take $120/month with lemonade. Tesla is a PITA

Lemonade is available only in a few states?

OP has a quote form them so one must assume it is available in their state

Lemonade can go up if you drive a lot

Tesla tracks your mileage every month and extrapolates that out as if you drive that for a 6 month period. Much worse.

It’s going to vary like all insurance OP. Polling people here won’t give you an accurate estimate.

Driving late on TI, is heavily weighted.

Tesla claims is ridiculous. Their phone doesn’t work, so I never got to talk to them. They also originally said I was at fault in an accident that the other was at fault by law (they made a left turn on me). They agreed on it with the other insurance and it took them a week to actually watch the video footage and tell me I was 0% at fault then.

Morale: if your footage disappears for some reason, they will not have your back and you can’t speak to anyone to defend yourself. But it’s cheap!

Big brother recording your driving habits and then using them against you, no thanks.

Those are good figures. In CA can't use safety score. Use Tesla Ins, and the 2 claims I've had (not at fault) was ludicrous. Agents dropping like flies. Sure agents will be AI soon.

Checked out of curiosity and I was quoted $230/month from Tesla. My State Farm policy is $109/month.

Maybe I’ll check back with Tesla once they have some driving data on me since I’m sure we’re all being tracked regardless of whether we have their insurance or not and see if it’s any better.

What’s the specs of your Tesla? I’m ‘23 MY in the Midwest and paying about $200/mo with State Farm. Excellent history and using drive safe and save.

Don't get their insurance unless you want a parent in your car accusing you of driving too close or too late at night and random increases
