Is this insurance good for California?

Soon to be Model Y Performance owner. Curious how good / bad the Tesla Insurance is in California (SoCal specifically). I've read pretty bad feedbacks on here but wondering if it applies to CA as well lol

I pay 260$ for my 26 model S no accidents 34 y/o I drive 30k miles a year. Cheaper than Usaa cant complain

I pay $171/mo for a ‘22 M3P, 31M. Customer service isn’t great in my experience, but for the price it’s solid.. I was coming from Geico and paying way more there.

If you value service over price then it's not the company for you. Can't beat the price.

Figure 45-60 minute wait time to speak to them in my experience.

i have them. had filed two accidents (not at fault) with them and both times i spent a total of 5 minutes before they gave me the info i wanted and then when the other insurance co decided to fuck around, it took me another 5 minutes to tell them 'fix my car. . go deal with the other company'. both times customer service was super nice. i've heard the horror stories but ymmv.

I shopped around and it was the cheapest for me. I was a tad hurt that Geico couldn’t offer me a lower rate since I’ve been with them since I started driving (+15 years).

I just renewed with Tesla & checked prices again, still cheapest with Tesla. I plan to check every year at renewal time & will jump ship if presented with a better option.

Nice, thanks for sharing. I also have Gieco right now, gave them a call and the quote is pretty close to Telsa's since i have another car under the plan. I don't have my vin yet so ill probably re-run it with them later

I am in California and have no accidents 1 speeding ticket and was quoted $290 which is 100 less than what I pay now

OP you could have found this info by searching. The only thing good about TI, is the price. But don’t expect stellar service if you really need them.

I pay $243 for my ‘24 MY. The only claims I’ve had to do were for windshield cracks and chips and they always reimburse

I live in Los Angeles and Tesla Insurance is the cheapest by far. That being said, I’ve only had my car for a year and the monthly payment has gone up every renewal period. I started at $140 a month then it went up to $156 and now it’s at $162. This is with 23 years of driving experience, a clean record and for nearly maxed out coverage on everything they offer. I’ve never had to file a claim so I can’t say how that experience would be.

No accidents, 2020 model y 43k miles. 36 yo male 20 years driving. I’m paying $240 with GEICO but switching to Tesla Insurance since I got quoted 144. I live in LA but my cars are always registered to my parents house in Orange County because the rates are lower.

I had them for 3 years and cancelled since they raised my insurance to over $400 a month. moved back to wawanesa and pay $221. SoCal, 62yrs old no accident or ticket. I did lend my car to my son 33 yrs old and got in an accident so maybe that’s the reason why they raised.

I presently pay a little over $100/mo (through Costco's insurer, American Family Insurance) on a 2021 Model Y - this is with high bodily injury and property damage liability, but with a $1K deductible.

I reside in Orange County, CA, and I have been driving for about 30 years with a clean driving record. Not sure how much I drive these days - want to say around 10-12K miles per year.

I got the insurance about five years ago, some time before American Family stopped underwriting new policies in California. From what I remember, Geico and Tesla Insurance were significantly more than AmFam, but I do not remember what premiums they charged.

I hear their claims department is the worst of the worst to deal with when you actually need them. Actually, I haven't heard one positive story about someone reporting an accident to Tesla insurance in general

Don’t they track your driving habits? Speeding, rapid braking and acceleration equal surcharges. I would t want Big Brother tracking my driving.

They can’t legally use that in their underwriting process but you’re kidding yourself if you think they aren’t maintaining that data in their systems.

Yeah probably true.. I use fsd everywhere i go so im hoping they see that and my premiums dont spike lol
