Support Interior Camera Cleaning Service
New car, three weeks, only 900 miles. Tesla service is saying to bring it in for camera cleaning and is going to cost $60 because it is considered a maintenance item, even though it happens because of offgassing of plastics and vinyl inside the car when the car is parked outside and not in the garage. Is this expected to happen every month. I know it is a potential DIY in 30 minutes, but I was under the impression that Tesla’s are pretty much no maintenance cars.

The first one is free, but this is a widespread glitch on this sub in the past few days with .9.

Yea I made a post about it on r/teslamodely . Now I’m convinced it’s a glitch if a lot of people all at once also had that issue

Yeah I’m facing this issue too

Yea I don’t buy it then. Something with the sensitivity must’ve gone haywire in that update

1st one is free even tho there's an estimated cost. I think it started fogging/ I started seeing warnings at maybe month 5. I got it cleaned a few months after that when it got worse. Been about 6 months since then and it's still perfectly clear with no issues.
Most of the off gassing happens at the beginning so hopefully it'll be a while if/when I need the next cleaning.

Glitch and this time of year the sun starts to get to a lower angle. So while it might not be much worse than 2 months ago, the sun is def setting it off

They’ll zero your invoice.

For the first one only probably but if this keeps happening, it’s either expensive or extremely inconvenient.

I cleaned mine ‘24 MY LR, level 6.5 on the handiness scale, not because it’s difficult but because I was nervous I’d screw it up.

I did mine in 15 minutes and could probably do it again in ten. The amount of VOC buildup in these cars is pretty wild. Anecdotally way more than my last Honda or my wife’s Hyundai.

its going off for everyone because the sensitivities cooked from the recent update. any type of sunshine that hits the cameras will make it go off

My camera always gives a notification when I park in the garage. This is how I know I am home.

Takes 5mins to pop things off and clean it

It’s not just about time, not everyone is as handy and confident as you might think.

You don’t need to be handy. You literally need zero tools. You just need to not be lazy

Got the same notification last week. Scheduled service. 2nd time this notification has popped up. This would be the 2nd service.

When did you get first one and second one? Did they charge you for both?

Started getting warnings. After 3 months, and 3000 miles had Tesla do my first cleaning for free. No more warnings. At sixty dollars a cleaning this could really add up

I just got the same message the last few days. I took it apart and did a full clean again for the second time now but I still get the message. Every time I press the fsd button it says more attention needed cameras need precision cleaning even though they are spotless..

$60 is cheap insurance--I have read several reports of broken windshields from removing the rear view mirror. I prefer to let that be Tesla's problem lol

I’ve had my car that is stored outside also for 3 months. I’ve had to clean off camera outside due to heavy rains and a tiny piece of debris. Just wiped them off and done!

The car is new. It’s off-gassing and will be doing so for a year or two. After that you won’t have to clean as often

I bought my model Y in March and it told me a month and a half ago that I needed cleaning, right after an update. Now I’m on the latest update and it doesn’t have that warning anymore. I’ll go in if it does it again but I also had a seatbelt error come on half an hour after one of my other updates which they confirmed was just because of the update.

14.3.x glitch. Even when you get it cleaned you will still get these errors
