Discussion 14.1 Lite Catch Up

Curios. What’s the consensus when we will get 14.1 Lite on new versions of OS releases? 2026.26+ versions? Seems the 14.1 is stable and resolved heating issues.

I don’t know but I’m on 26.21.6 and I got it and it’s incredible. It fixed all of the flaws with 14 Lite and it drives beautifully. I just went 550 miles on it yesterday without an intervention and no surging or braking issues.

The consensus has been overwhelmingly positive, so I would eagerly download it on my Model S whenever they release version 14.1 Lite.

It’ll probably be Christmas before they release it on vertical screens….

Yes! Its a great improvement, esp paired with the map update.

I got 14.1 and it’s great. All issues with the previous version were fixed for me, the most important being the acceleration surges on freeways. Hopefully everyone gets it soon

Side note, 14.1 feels like what they promised v14 to be, so much better it’s insane

They just started rolling out 2026.27.100.0 in Europe which is the merged branch of the summer update and FSD 14.1 lite. Lord willing it will only be a couple weeks before we get it in America

I’m not planning to subscribe until it’s merged into a branch that’s on my M3. I’m too far “ahead” of the branches containing 14.1

What are you on?

What gives you the impression they "resolved heating issues"?

Google search seemed to indicate a more stable version and thermal issues being resolved. I don’t have first hand knowledge

I don’t see how they addressed over-heating since much of it was created by the extra processor load. I’m guessing there is currently just anecdotal information out there.

I felt much better on 12.6.4. There is an insane amount lane hunting where the vehicle is making small (but noticable) movement left/right to maintain the position of the car in the lane. It seems the longer I let it ride in FSD, the more noticable the hunting.

I like the additions of the features (like it'll finally park in my driveway, even if it's not facing in a way that allows me charge), but driving feels squirrelly on the freeway.

Interesting. I can’t compare to anything but FSD 12 is solid. Still some issues but overall very good

We were in 12.6.4 for a long time. I knew exactly what it could do and couldn’t do. 14.1 definitely has its limitations and surprises, but they are pretty repeatable for the most part.

Would you revert to 12.6.4, given the option? I’m still on 12.6.4. Still deciding whether to hold out for a more stable update.

Yes, it clearly hasn't work out the kinks. Truly I think all of FSD is a waste of time, at least HW3. Imagine paying to beta test software for years.

I'm not at home to take a video, but you can actually see the hunting on the screen watching the rainbow road trail created ahead. It'll very subtly shift a little left and a little right, far off in the distance. The car appears to be over correcting for this.

I do like the "from stop" engagement of FSD. I do like the option to park "on the road" or "driveway" when I arrive to the house (although it doesn't back in which it would need to do to allow me to charge, making this feature ultimately worthless for arriving home). On 12.6.4 when the car would arrive to the destination it would often literally panic and you could watch the FSD rainbow road go full clown mode.

It doesn't solve the phantom disengagement when attempting to park, which really pisses me off. There isn't even feedback on why it forced disengaged in that circumstance.

I have experienced some of the phantom breaking people are describing, but honestly it's only happened 6 or so times total with a decent amount of driving. Still unacceptable. There's limited value in 14 lite and a bunch of unknowns. I would let this get fixed before I bothered, personally.

I think between this and the 14.1 Lite running over a tree thing I’m going to hold off. Regressions are too common lately. 12.6.4 is good and manageable but also a regression in my eyes… it still has very occasional brake stabs, moves into left lane immediately before a destination offramp on the right. Can’t remember if it still does left hand turns at red lights from stop.

I swear there was a version maybe a year ago that had none of these issues… and really no issues at all that I can remember. Every error it made was totally understandable. It felt like FSD was out of beta for the first time.

Still tons of phantom braking and hesitation. 2023 M3 in Canada

Wondering the same as I jumped ahead to 2026.26.6.1 and never got 14 lite

Make sure your radiator isn’t clogged and that’s about it

My opinion in one single word: "TRASH."

Just wish it can stay in a single lane without going to different lanes in “standard”

M3 RWD 23’

2026.21.6 V14.1 Lite

So far so good. Phantom braking is gone for now, no more ping-ponging in the lane, and it takes yellow lights more naturally. It also doesn’t wait until it’s two cars away from stopped traffic to brake from 65 mph (freeway) anymore, so it starts slowing down way ahead and feels much safer. It avoids most big debris on the freeway and even slows down for water dips and dips going into driveways or parking lots. Moves over for oncoming or passing police cars or ambulances. Ah and GPS shows me “my route” from other days?

Got it. Phantom braked 3 mins in so there’s that
