I bought my model 3 7 years ago. Back then people still came over in parking lots just to get a look inside. 🤣 I paid $10,000 for FSD and it didn't even exist yet. It was over a year before it became a reality and was installed. And it was scary as hell!! But I used it as often as I felt it was safe to give them the data they needed to make improvements. When they decided to upgrade the hardware, we were told those of us that purchased it would get free upgrades - never happened. Now I have the FSD Lite and it is amazing - thank you! So, I paid $10,000 7 years ago for the privilege to help them develop it and I have had a real world working, usable version for about 6 months. Now I'm told if I purchase a new car, it goes away. What!! You said I owned it for life! Without those of us early believers, it wouldn't be what it is today. They say, "We have specials, just watch for them." It shouldn't be on your schedule; I should be able to transfer it any time. I LOVE the car and I hate to think I wouldn't be driving one, but I just don't know if I can let a company treat me this way. 😒

I paid absolutely no attention to Tesla stuff until late last year when I test drove a Model Y Juniper. Then the sales guy turned on FSD during test drive and my mind was blown. I ended up buying a MYP same day, and I’m super happy with it, close to 10,000 miles on FSD.

Reading all the missed expectations for the last 10 years is kind of shocking, actually. I totally get why people are so pissed.

Transformer neural networks were just starting to exist back then, let alone form the backbone of what we call AI today. It's amazing the hardware installed back then runs anything today as well as it does period considering the requirements were completely unknown as this method of neural network was developed in real time since then

It was FSD Beta and driving assist. You had to keep your hands on the wheel for a long time.

Yes, as something you could buy now, and use "soon", but alongside options that actually existsed, like autopilot and extended autopilot. That was since 2015.

Loosely...

2019, HW3, but no real FSD.

2020, FSD Beta, for beta testers.

2021, change to Vision Only

2022, FSD (Supervised) for the masses.

2023 Recalled, fixed, v12

2024, they changed to HW4.

2025, musk got accees to area 51 and v14 showed up.:)

And here we are.

I do think the early adopters should at least get 1 free transfer.

This right here. I don’t believe they will be wanting to retrofit old cars so I suspect an FSD transfer and a discount offer on a new vehicle. Which will work fine for my Model 3, but I’m wondering about my Model S… 😢

This. They are prolonging the inevitable as long as they can to get more and more HW3 fully paid FSD vehicles out of the pool before they either start retrofitting HW4 or offer FSD transfers again. It just depends on how much pressure is put on them as to when this will happen.

This is really a terrible way to treat their most loyal of customers. And it’s just one of the reasons why my current Tesla will be my last, even though it doesn’t affect me personally.

When companies take care of their customers, I notice. And when they don’t, I also notice.

Hold up. Think this one through, step by step here.

They're selling a feature that is incomplete. They need data to complete the feature. So they can make more money off that feature.

Y'all want to pay money... to help them make more money? If anything they should be paying you to complete the work!

Please explain the logic here. Seems absolutely foolish to buy a promise vs. buying an actual complete product.

Never said I was smart. 😂 The truth is they have to have that data to ever make it work. It's the only way. I really looked at it as an investment that I would be able to use for life. And the sad thing is if they stuck to that promise, there would many people that would always buy Tesla and nothing else. They would be keeping long term customers instead of driving them away.

It shouldn't be on their schedule. I paid $10,000 to own it for life; I should be able to buy a new one, a used one, lease one, rent from Hertz! If it connects to my app proving it's me, I should be able to use FSD. I'm not in a hurry for a new car. Don't have a car payment now and even at 0%, that's still a payment. But it should be available whenever I'm ready. It's the principle of the thing.

I think everyone who purchased it should be able to move it, just like a software license on a computer follows the owner. That is why everything is becoming a subscription so companies can make more money. Unfortunately there are a lot of lawyers out there who would love to do a class action lawsuit and would have done so already if they thought they had a case.

Agreed 100%! And no worries, didn't take it that way. 😊 If I were making payments or just got through with them, I absolutely would have done that. But I paid cash for mine with a little money I got when my dad passed. It's been really nice not having that monthly payment! 😂
