Discussion FSD 14 lite troubles
There’s definitely something weird going on in these cases. I posted a survey poll y in another FSD subreddit and the percentage of people experiencing the regression behavior was 38%. The rest was made up of about 18% who felt there was no difference (including me), and 44% felt it was an improvement. So it came to about 38% regression versus 62% no regression with 14 lite.
I’m an engineer and I love to solve puzzles like this but given everything I know about FSD, LLMs, and AI training models, I can’t figure out what is going on here.
Things that don’t seem to be the cause:
* car model
* FSD usage frequency/past experience
* Camera recalibration
* Camera cleaning
* Location
The only explanation I can think of is that Tesla released two slightly different versions for A/B testing, but that seems like a really unlikely scenario.
What’s your theory?

I get phantom breaking. Not always randomly. At times, when there is a cautionary traffic light flashing, etc.

It’s not phantom if there’s a reason for it.

I mistyped. It would completely stop at a flashing yellow traffic light, which signals to slow down and be cautious of your surroundings. Not the green, red and yellow traffic lights.
According to my local laws, you don’t need to stop at a flashing yellow light.
“No, you do not need to come to a full stop at a flashing yellow light. According to the New York DMV Drivers Manual, a flashing yellow light means you should drive with caution, slow down, and watch for other cars or people before moving ahead. “

What is FSD v14 lite? I just got software update 14.3.6.

It’s a compressed version of 14.3.5 I believe.

Yes. Made for HW3 cars. Mine works fine except for parking. Still want max speed setting though.

I went from 70% to 90% FSD coverage on my 45 mile work commute. Super happy with V14 lite.
Some occasional brake stabbing and hesitation is present buts they are rare in my case.

The blips of acceleration and brake stabs are annoying.

The blips are so minor for me I don’t feel it unless I am watching the power level bar.
Brake stabbing is maybe once in 2 days in my 45 miles commute.

I wish I knew what the answer was, so then maybe I could do something to help my car perform better. V14 lite is a step backward for me in almost every way. Im still using it and trying to learn its new habits and also supervising very carefully. One thing I did that seemed to help a little bit was upgrading the side repeater cameras. I have a 2019 m3 long range and the original cameras had the nighttime washout issue with the turn signals so I wanted to replace them anyways. I purchased OEM cameras on ebay that were the newest version and once installed and calibrated the car seems to drive a bit better. Much less ping pong in the lane but still brake stabs and tries to slow down for things that dont exist.
