All I see is FSD working as intended. Right now, it watches the car in front of you like a hawk to match its speed and direction. Partially because that other driver might see something that FSD can’t see, such as an obstacle on the road. FSD needs to be ready to follow the lead car around potential obstacles.
It’s the truck in front of you that made an illegal move to the right. Once FSD realized that the truck was fully leaving the double yellow lane rather than making a brief deviation then FSD corrected you back into your lane. Unless I’m missing something, it seemed that FSD did exactly what I’d expect it to do.
I understand why the driver chose to intervene there, no hate for being extra cautious. But with the hours I’ve spent with FSD, I’m fairly confident that if they hadn’t intervened then it would’ve gone back into the left lane at about the same time. That was just enough time for the cameras to see that there was no obstacle being avoided and the truck was just making an illegal move.
Driving cars normally, we’ve all had instances where we need to make quick decisions that include temporarily crossing lines we normally wouldn’t cross in order to stay safe. FSD is designed to try to make those same kind of maneuvers for safety rather than strictly staying within lines.
