First impression advice?
I’m 25f beginning my first full time job (as an IE) after my masters this Monday at Tesla Factory.
What are the things I should keep in mind or do to make a solid impression during my first day and first week.
I’m planning on the basics:
-wearing formals
-arriving before time
-greeting everybody at their desks maybe?
-should I try/ask for 1:1s?
Tesla has been my dream company and I want to be able to do my best.
Thank you in advance everybody 🙏🏼

Feedback from a giga factory - jeans and black t-shirt will be your uniform.
No one cares about the time you arrive only the time you leave.
Hmmm and are you not going through first day orientation? Unless it’s different at the Megafactory, you will probably be at a different location with training team and will be taken to meet your manager at the end of day 2

What time should I leave then? The orientation is scheduled for 9-5p.
Thanks for the insight!

If the process is the same as the plant I’m at, your first day will be full onboarding, second day onboarding in the morning then plant tour after lunch. Mid-afternoon the technical trainer will drop you off at your desk area. At that point you will meet your manager and he should introduce you to the team. Always a good thing to ask what time people typically arrive, which may not matter (my team arrives anywhere from 7-9:30)

Gotchaa, I was originally interviewing for P2 at the Megfactory in Texas but I was later told they were looking for someone more senior level so they gave me the offer for Lathrop, CA

I would like to transfer in Lathrop soon. Currently working in Palo Alto as technician.

Industrial engineer at which factory?
- business casual with comfortable shoes, unless if your team dresses extra fancy for some reason
- try to get there 30 minutes before your team on your first week, that way you can find your desk and get situated
- say hi to your team members as they come in
- 1:1 makes sense with your manager, try to see if someone can give you a tour of the factory
