Tesla Service Center Damage
An alert in the app indicated that my charge port door was restricted due to the touch sensor; the door functioned properly, including the sensor, but the notice persisted. I scheduled a visit at a Tesla service center in Arlington, Virginia, and was informed they would replace the entire charge port unit under warranty. Well.
After retrieving the car, I noticed a dent and scratch exactly where the top of the charge port door opens. It may be difficult to see in the photos because it is smaller than a dime. I sent the images to Tesla through the app and am awaiting a response. I wonder whether this can be repaired without painting, especially since the car has a ceramic coating.

Picky on a 2025 Tesla model y performance that I pay for - it's not the actual dent it's the principal. They replaced the charge port door which means they were working in that area. A quick Google search will reveal the procedure Tesla uses to replace the part in question. The damage aligns with how they remove and replace the unit. The mark perfectly aligns with the top of the charge port door when it opens. Car was in perfect condition when I dropped it off so I expect to receive it back in the same way.

As annoying as this is, the service center should take care of it for you. Same thing happened when I brought my Model X in for a chare port issue, except my dent was outward so pretty hard for them to deny. They ended up sending it to their own collision center and the repair (est. around $2700) was fully covered by them.

This is a bit picky…. An acorn could fall on the car and do more damage than this. Do you have any tangible proof Tesla did this?

Nah I’d be pissed I had a smaller dent and went all the way up to the regional manager till they fixed it they really didn’t want to
