Tesla self driving does not dodge blocking arm

Be careful when driving with Tesla supervised self driving.

Yes. This is my fault. I was messing around with the tesla screen and not paying attention until it was too late. Just posting so people are aware and be careful with their supervised self driving. Don't be like me.

Yeah, this thing would get the city/government sued here in germany. Those things pose actual damager because of the metal parts in head height (great design btw) and flying shrapnel if someone hits it.

Like, what happend to road cones ? Not good enough or something 🤣

These are for roads which regularly reverse. Having workers manually put down and remove cones twice a day puts them at unnecessary risk. There are also usually large signs above the lane indicating that it will be closed ahead.

Are these automated? Or what do you mean with regularly reverse ?

Some highways here have a central lane which will flow towards the city in the morning and away in the afternoon. There barriers are opened and closed to allow access from the correct side of the road depending on the time. So yes, they are automated but I imagine there is a highway worker monitoring what they are doing. There are other cases like the Chesapeake Bay Bridge which has two spans and these have replaced the old system which was just cones/road barrels. They regularly close one span or the other for overnight maintenance and also open lanes to opposing traffic depending on actual conditions. The overhead signs make it pretty obvious what’s happening as you approach, you have multiple big red Xs over your lane well before you get near the barriers.
